Videos are Up!

Here are video's of me with my CRT .5 and MetalMan with his Hyper 8 at Socal RC Raceway.

CRT .5:

Hyper8:

I was using the included Bow Ties, which weren't the best tire for the track...I should have had HoleShots or something...oh well...

Enjoy! :mdr:

Nice vid's. Metalman - you make the triples look so easy to clear. I don't think the nitro guys would be able to pull that off so easy. :na:

BP-Revo 10.27.2007 09:23 PM

The CRT had plenty of power and could have easily done the triples. However, the suspension was too soft and I didn't want to overclear them, and ended up coming up short a few times, tweaking my chassis a bit. After that I took it easy on the main triple...

Yeah... looks like the wrong tires or just that the track (grip) is suky. Brushless 1/8 accelerate and jump like mad though even on a loose surface. :)

If you are referring to the quality, its because I had to scale the quality down. A full quality AVI for the first vid, which was 6:39, was 1.4gb. I reduced the quality, and yet it was still like 740mb. Next time I will leave full quality, and let it upload over a few days (with google uploader, you can pause and stuff). Also, it can upload while I'm sleep and at school (a good 14 hours or so straight) when no one is using the internet.

Holeshots really are the perfect tire for that track. That's what was on the Hyper 8, and as you can see, clearing the triple wasn't a problem at all when using Holeshots. One thing I want to point out, that was my first time doing any sort of real RC driving in about a month, hence my why my driving could have been better. It also would help if I were to set up the suspension (it's still the same from when I bought the buggy used a year ago ).

BP's CRT.5 was pretty crazy on 3s. With Holeshots and a good suspension setup, he could clear that triple no problem. I'd only be worried about wheelies :yipi:.

From what I could tell when I drove it, stiffer springs and thicker oil would help a bit, as well as reducing camber in the rear.

I only ran my CRT on 3S for ~8-10 laps out of fear of breaking something. Going down the straight I felt I was on the throttle for less than 1/2 a second because the thing rocketed down it so quickly. Not only that, but I had a severe problem with over-clearing jumps. If I gave 1/2 the input as I would using 2S for a specific jump, I would actually end up jumping twice as far as I had to.

Along with the replacement parts, I ordered some 2.2in truck sized Hole Shots - should hook up great, as well as help with ground clearance.

Edit: LOL I just took a look at my Bow Ties and their just about bald in the center where it contacts the ground!

Well, that would explain the problem. I must say that was quite funny watching the CRT.5 doing donuts on a track. I once saw a Rustler there with the stock pin tires, except they were worn down to slicks. What a sight that was to see. LOL It seems like it is just about the most perfect sized truck for that track.

MetalMan - Don't feel bad about the driving, mine was probably worse than that. Mainly from the BL power and over jumping every jump almost; mostly the triple though. ... actually I may take that back. Ryan Maifeild actually drove my buggy for a good 15 minutes at the track, so I think that made up for my bad driving.

I have to agree about the perfect size for the track part. I actually LOVE the look of the truck with the buggy tires on it, though admittedly it looks more "truggy" with the truck tires on it (I have some 30 series Road Rages).

The donut thing is fun sometimes, but not when you are trying to get a good drive down the straight lol...

Hopefully the Truck sized Holeshots give more traction and more tread life, since they have more contact patch as well as being the proper tire, less spin should mean less wear.
