Can't get MGM controller to be seen by PC, what did RCMike do?
I finally managed to track down a CC-02 cable, and upon plugging in my controller into the USBCom and into the PC I was greeted w/ nothing. I installed the software fine, and the computer seems to find the USBCom module ok, but the Controller program just says "controller is offline" when I plug it in. I can't really tell if the LED lights up on the ESC either (if its supposed to). The cable is fully into the ICS plug. Leds on the usb com do flash, but god knows what they mean. (they do not flash when the esc is not plugged into the USBcom/PC, so it must see something right?)
I've followed the instructions MGM provides [opto ver]. I've tried as many combos of batteries/rx/ ubec turned off and on as I can think of, but the software is a no-go. I know mike had some probs w/ the USBcom for quite a while which were PC settings related, but I do not see any adjustments to make in the controller software. It only gives "com 1" as a com port option, and the usb device tab does list the usb device and serial #, but no adj either. I've re-installed the software a few times now. Anyone else get this to work? I never had any probs w/ usb interfaces w/ my MM controller, nor the USB interface w/ my TP 1010C charger. I don't even see what to change to make it work (like going to Com 2, etc.) Help! |
Finnster,
The first one or two times I tried mine did the same. The third time I hooked up and waited about 45 seconds and it loaded up. I don't know why the delay but that was my problem. I don't know if that helps you.... |
you could try setting the USB mode to usb 1 instead of 2 in the bios?
Other than that, i've got no idea.. |
Mine wont work on the pc unless i unplug power to UBEC or reciever (16024 OPTO)

Since this is the help thread, here's my problem. I got it installed but it also doesn't recognize, the green led blink but no show on the screen. If i unplug the esc from the computer, unplug the battery, then replug the esc to computer, i get a red and green led blinking, then replug the battery i lose the red led. its saturday morning here (east coast US) and i will try to get Mike this morning or sunday, if i get it to run I'll post what mike tells me to do.

I don't know if this is the reason mine worked, but I used the separate conection cable with the usbCom cable and had to turn on the radio, and then mine would recognize the controller.
But your supposed to be able to just unplug the esc and connect directly to the usbCom cable. That's where I'm confused because that way the reciever would have nothing to do with the connection! |
Its moot point for me now,The esc quit again. I don't know what happened it was running fine, I even had it runing no brakes and freewheel and it was perfect but then something happened and it seemed to go to a default setting then it would run for a few seconds then stop. The BEC never stopped at all during this, just not go then go then stop, oh well send it to Mike and get it fixed again.
dadnjesse, i was using the reciever plug and got nothing |
I'm also having this problem with a brand new controller. I have tried it over and over with no luck. I have the USB com cable. When I get every thing plugged in, I do get a green blinking light. I get the chime on my PC that a USB is connected. The ESC never goes online though! WTF!!! Very frustrating!!! Does anyone have a remedy?

Are you using the cc_02 cable with the usb-com? I could never get mine to work any other way than with the cc_02 cable.
|
No. I have wondered if that would make a difference. Unfortunately I don't have that cable, If it has made a difference for you then maybe thats what I need.
|
I just read a line in the USB com directions that says the newest controllers need the cc_02 cable. They cannot be prgrammed via the receiver wire. Always need one more thing! I wish I would have know then I could have ordered it at the same time. Hope this helps some one else though.

Dont know if this will help, but my controller must be powered up before the PC recognizes it. And then powered off after the setting changes.
|
MGM has to be powered on before connecting to PC and CC02 cable must be used, All my MGM ESCs work without any issues
|
Yes... The controller needs to be connected to the main battery and switched on for it to work on the USB. Its not like the MM that powers itself thru the USB cable. This stumped me for an hour or 2 the first time I programed a MGM.

Where do you get the CC02 cables
