feigao 540c xl the same as the purple can?

i need to get a new motor since my other was no good from the factory. i told the place i bought it from that i opened it up to see if there was some debre inside causing the problems and he said that i voided the warrenty by opening the motor, although you can't tell. any ways, i found a good price on a 540c 7xl and i'm wondering if it'll bolt right up where my 540 10L was setting. i have plenty of room for a longer motor. is the quality better or the same also. big difference i see is the 540c has a built on heatsink.

Same basic motors. I prefer the smooth canned motors so my heatsink can be used. The finned version still pops the front end bell(press fit) like the smooth motors, but is harder to prevent, as my heatsinks won't fit. :)

i may just get another 10L then and also i'm worried about pulling more amps out of my mm esc by going with the xl motors.

I use a 9xl in my losi8 truggy - the MMax handles it no problem with a fan. I guess its a matter of which xl motor you use. A 7xl can draw more than a 10L motor, but an 8xl or 9xl will have less tendency to do this.

We run XLs on MMs with great success. When your gearing is off, usually, the motor is more of a problem than the ESC (with this combination).
It's amazing what the little MM can take. And in the worst case it still has a thermal protection, it will just shut down when it gets too hot.
The motors on the other hand, they will just fry. Watch your temps on the first few runs and you should be fine.
