What spares for CRT.5?
I just received my RCM CRT.5 extended chassis. Very very nice work. It comes with a lot more parts than I expected including a longer drive shaft. I'm going to get to work finishing this conversion this week. There is no local support for CRT.5 parts, so I'm wondering what extras I need to order online? Does anyone have a list of problem areas or commonly broken parts?
Thanks, Scott |

Scott the only part i broke on my .5 is the plastic part of the shock cap. So you might want to get a couple sets of those they are only around $5.00 each. Just make sure you set your droop screws right to help eleminate this problem. |
SO far the only thing I have broken is the front uper arm turnbuckle. The kit came with replacements that they recomended changing before running it.... I ignored that.:whistle:Made it a bitch to get the broken off nub still stuck in the arm out. I shoulda just changed it to begin with.
other than that the only thing I was thinking about is the aluminum knuckles, the skinny little lever on the knuckle looks like its begging to break, but I havent seen anyone actually break one yet so maybe I'm just paranoid. |
i broke a rear susp. arm, but i was going pretty fast and clipped a pipe at the track
i also got my chassis today and am about 1/2 way done now , ill post pics when i get it together |
I got the cnc knuckles and rear hubs for this thing since those are the parts I always break on other trucks. I don't really know if it needs them since I haven't ever run the stock knuckles or hubs. I haven't broken a single thing yet after numerous cartwheels and nose dives.
I just ordered the cnc braces as well since I think I'm starting to warp the plastic ones. Again, not really needed, but it will give me piece of mind so that I can be more aggressive with it. |
have you been using the jammin parts??
where else can i get the aluminum from?? sorry for the hi-jack also i broke a rear body mount, i still need a new one but want a aluminum one:lol:, thanks |
Thanks for all the good info. I've read about the upper front turnbuckle. I'll have to check my kit and see if it came with the replacement version. I've seen where some are using a Lunsford 4 x 23mm as a replacement. They say the 4mm will just thread into the stock 3.5 fittings.
I read something about the shock caps, but I can't remember if it was the short ones or long ones that broke more often. It seems I need to set the droop limiter screws so the arms top out on the limiters and not the shocks? Doesn't sound like I need too many spares. If there is anything else let me know. Where's everyone at with the diff oil? I've read F1K, C1K, R500, but also F1K, C2K, R500. This is my first 4WD and first vehicle with diffs. |
I broke both the front upper turnbuckle as well as a lower arm. However, this was because I landed a jump with ALL the landing force going into that front wheel (it got caught on PVC as it was landing). Just about any truck would have had some damage from an impact like that...
The impact also bent my hingepin. I plan to get some JD carbon or Lunsford hingepins, and also hope to get some Lunsford turnbuckles as well... |
