It's scale, but different.
It's scale, so hopefully no one minds me sharing these photos of one of my other projects. It's a 1/16th scale Peterbilt tractor, built with parts and various kits from a German manufacturer, known as Wedico. Wedico doesn't really sell any complete kits. Instead you pick out what you need to build a truck that suits your desires, and then put the parts together. I'm fairly new to the RC trucking world, but I have always loved big heavy equipment. My truck is a heavy haul 6x6 with a working lift axle. It's got a three speed trans, similar to the Tamiya rigs, and the differentials are lockable, via radio control with a dedicated servo. My truck is still in the mock-up state, so it's mostly raw metal, but someday it will get painted and finished. I work on it when I get in the mood, and parts are expensive, so it's not an over night build. I've been going along for almost a year now. Anyway, I'll let the photos do the talking....

Thanks, but it's got a long way to go! It started as a bare chassis, but little by little I was able to buy more parts and add them. That is why you might spot a few changes in the photos. The front suspension was swapped to more realistic springs, to match the rear, and the rear axles were relocated further back then Wedico intended, to make more room for the lift axle.
Here are a couple shots of the axles themselves. The plastic arms are the levers for the locking differentials. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...ald6x6axle.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...xle4linked.jpg And here is a photo of the aftermarket rear suspension springs designed by another company for the Wedico line, that I bought. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...eafsprings.jpg Installed - http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...sswaldflex.jpg An underside photo of the trans and front axle.... http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...xleinplace.jpg Finally, mock-up of the cab clearance lights. I love those trucks with lights everywhere. The more the better. That is what I hope to model. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...ngsinstall.jpg |
are you going working lights on it? that would be so freaking cool lol .
