5s brushless inferno gt on the way

Hi everyone, I just sent my inferno gt to mike for conversion and ordered an mgm 224.18 control and a 1515 2.5d finned 1700kv for a 5s set up. What I was wondering was is this a good setup? Will my inferno be over powered? I just read that my motor and batt combo was not that impressive. I hope I got the right motor. Mike is busier than ever and I did not want to bother him with a bunch of little questions. I would love to here from anyone on this, your thoughts (good or bad) are welcome. Thanks

I'm sure if it wasn't a good combo mike would tell you. I'm fairly sure that will be the combo that will go in my savage one day.

Who told you that combo's not impressive??? It will kick ass! You'll have a ton of torque, but you will need to gear up a little if you want high speeds (over 40mph), since the rpms will only be about 31,000. The temps should stay cool, though, at that rpm.

Thanks guy's I will get stocked up on the bigger pinions tonight.

kyosho GT

how much were your electronic set ups? how much are your custom higher gear 2speed ratios from Mike? nice set up.

Mikes prices for the mgm 224.18 and the nue 1515 2.5d are on his site, and as far as my conversions go I never ask the price of anything he makes for me, All I care about is when I will get it. He is also doing a violator 9.5 for me at the same time plus a carbon fiber blizzard chassis. In Jan I will send him a new HPI baja 5b for conersion, we have spent alot of time on the phone and never talked about money other than when I will be billed.

carbon fiber blizzard chassis? As in kyosho tracked blizzard? I can hardly drive my blizzard on a 19t brushed motor.

coolrunnings 12.09.2007 03:52 PM

Yes it is a blizzard ep. I can't believe your blizzard rocks with only a 19turn brushed, I ran mine with a 17turn motor and it was a total dog (slower than the second comming of christ) I now run it on 3s with a lehner basic 4200 xl and it now has enough power to brake trail in powder. I just need to make it a bit lighter for better deep snow performance ( I go all out on my toys) . Mike does not work with carbon fiber so he will have his buddy vinnie do it I think.

It is slow but the steering is way to fast. I need to loosen up the steering brakes a bit i think. How does it hold up to the extra power?

coolrunnings 12.09.2007 05:47 PM

The geartrain is holding just fine, it is so light that there is not that much strain on things so nothing will break, but I'm sure it will cause premature wear in the diff but that is easaly fixed. The first thing we do with the blizzard is get bearings in it, that is a must then loosen those tracks up a bit. That will free everything up a bunch, you should be able to grab one track and give it a spin and it should keep spinning for another revolution or so then I set the punch control so the power dont hit so hard. Also these tracks do spin on the snow a little and that makes thing easy on the gears. My steering was also real fast and it made the machine a little twitchy so I turned down the servo speed (using my airtronics m11 radio) and that solved that.

I put bearings in it before i even ran it. I've slowed the steering allot (futaba 3pks). But I haven't run it again since. I might go faster if I can keep it controlable. How wet does it get inside when running in the snow?

speedracer1129 12.17.2007 08:30 AM

what is the status on the inferno gt?

rchippie 12.17.2007 07:18 PM

Are you going to keep the two speed ?. I thought about converting one of these my self .
