built in MMM BEC (noob question)
hi guys, sorry for such a stupid question but...
when they say the MMM will have a built in BEC, thats the same as having a UBEC right? so that means theres no need for a UBEC or a reciever pack and you can just get the ESC, plug the batteries in and go? thanks alot jordan |
Well, yes and no.
Almost all escs have a built in BEC. The problem is they can't really handle the high voltage without overheating. The MMM has a different kind of BEC... bascily it will have the Castle UBEC built into it. So it will actually be up to the task.. and you won't need to use a separate BEC. It's going to be nice! |

I noticed about 2-3 weeks ago that Tower Hobbies added the Sidewinder ESC to their online catalog with a stock status of "Early December." I just checked again tonight and the stock status for the Sidewinder is "Order Pending." I only note this because the Monster Mamba Max is supposed to be available in early January...which means that we should see it showing up on Tower's website sometime later this month or very early in December....which should provide some indication if the MMM is going to be released on schedule. |
I wouldn't go off that...The MRC Superbrain 989 charger was on there for a good 6 months with a picture of what looked like a 977 and said it was gonna be something like $89 but when it was released it didn't look anything like that nor was it anywhere near that price. Not to mention how long it was up there...

Not to re-open an old can of worms... but my $.02 on the MMM:
Although Castle has been leaking info for over a year about the MMM being under development, and even being "close" but not ready yet... one thing that has always been the case is that they were still working on the motors. They never said they had that figured out... only that they were testing or talking to companies about it. But... NOW it's a different story. They finally have the motor situation in the works and they have full control over the mfg. Also, they did a fresh design for the MMM and for the first time we have seen that it does exist, such as at the Ihobby show. So now I think for the first time Castle actually can look at what they have and try to set a deadline to get it done. Before it was always hoping... but still a ways off. They have only given vague references to January.. nothing in stone that I have heard. But even if they don't make the Jan. "deadline"... I expect it won't be too much longer. All those release date jokes... may not apply much longer so get them in while you can. |

Now I have seen them post a stock status of "Early March" only to see it bumped out to the next month several times. However, "Order Pending" usually means that Tower has paid for the merchandise and the vendor has commited to delivery within a specified timeline. IMO. |

I agree. |
well i definately hope they do release it close to schedule, so maybe within the next 6-8 months from the release date they give us :mdr:
its just cruel to tell us how good its going to be and then just keep us hanging... jordan |
True... but I think we have to admit that all the talk in the past about the MMM has been vague at best... all we really knew is that they were "working on it" and what the goal was.
If I had not seen pics and been told about the motor situation, I would be very skeptical. If summer comes and we still don't have a MMM.... that will be sad, pathetic, shameful. :) If we are still talking about this a year from now... I will shave my head and burn a MM on my bbq grill. And I won't leave it medium rare  |
if that happens, take pictures!!
|
if it doesnt come out tomorrow, ill burn my bl revo. mmkay, maybe not.
