Air Compressor? Cleaning Cars?
 

Its starting to hit me how much i'm spending on buggy blast and compressed air cans!

Thinking about an air compressor to get the muck off... Is this a good idea and any suggestions...

I was thinking I could also try painting a body or two so would like something capable of that - Any suggestions...

i thought i'd try to get something in the sales...

I'm glad I have an air compressor.. cleans off all of the dust.. but you're still gonna have to brush the dirt/grease mixtures.... unless you had a 1000 psi air compressor... :)

Definitely get an air compressor. It has saved me so many countless hours of cleaning. :smile: You won't regret buying one.

I've often wondered if there isn't some kind of aerosol cleaner that would work well with the plastic and aluminum?

I've thought about brake cleaner, but I'm sure that would degradate some stuff. It's a little too strong.

i used break cleaner and it worked great. it will discolor things though. and it smells like crap...

the air compressor is nice but it wont clean all the dirt and grime off the truck. just the dust. ive tried pouring rubbing alcohal on it then blowing it but then it makes everything look like really dry or something idk.

the compressor is a nice thing to have for sure.

just dont expect it to make it completely clean.

Well being a mechanic a compressor is a must. Sears has a very nice 30gallon stand up roller on sale for about $269:rules:. It is great for just about anything you might want a compressor for and it is not too big. I have tons of air tools for doing all kinds of work around the house. Having one for your RC is deffinitely a plus. It is a good idea to make sure that you have some kind of dryer/filter system installed to keep from getting too much moisture in your electronics:gasp:. Brake cleaner works fine for me, and I also use electrical contact cleaner as well sometimes, but my trucks are 100% metal construction. No plastic and very limited rubber (boots). There is no substitute for good old rags and elbow grease when it comes to cleaning our toys:whip:. No magic bullets that I know of.:na: Besides it is good practice taking your trucks apart from time to time to clean them up, and make sure there are no hidden issues arrising:oh:. Lets face it these are not maintenance free toys by any sense of the imagination. If you want to look good you have to work for it. Have fun cleaning up:lol:.

That's funny, because the last roller I bought had a thick layer of nitro muck on it. I just tossed it into the dishwasher and all better.

Definitely gotta get a air compressor, and some simple green.

Love my air compressor too - runs my air tools and the sandblaster. My fav cleaning formula - I add 15-20% denat alcohol to Simple Green. That seems to boost its crud cutting power.

That should work out perfectly for doing the little things like cleaning up your RC vehicles and even blowing down the shop if need be. It will probably even run small pheumatic tools. Not bad for $75.:lol:

Craftsman is perfect for the price. Nice and easy to use. I hate brake fluid. Leaves a film on my stuff and you have to wipe it off. I use carborator cleaner. Cleans the crap up and doesn't harm the metal or plastic parts at all. if your not fast it dries before you rub it around.:whistle:
