Whats wrong with my 125B?

I've had it less than 6 months and had it working then. A battery shorted on the chassis while I was driving and ever since then it doesn't work.
I tried it again with a 8xl and it demagnitised it. Today, I tried it again and it just stutters like its fighting itself, on its own the motor spins freely and the controller got warm after about 20 seconds of this stuttering.

Is there anything I can do to solve it or should I send it back to S&T?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Complex

Due to the complex nature of the 125B's internal workings and the amount of money you paid for it I would just send it back for a warrenty inspection. If not you are destined to ruin even more equipment trying to figure it out. Why take the chance? For a few $$$ you may have a completely reconditioned ready to go controlerthat is just as good as new. Better safe than sorry. None of us likes waiting, but patients is a virtue. Send them an email and let them know what you are experiencing, and let them tell you what to do. Most of the RC community companies seem to be pretty cooperative for the most part and they love working with us to make sure that we are happy with their products. So do what you know you have to do, and let them handle it.

I was thinking of sending it back to S&T and thanks for the comments. I don't want to waste more money and as you say their likely to help.

Not totally sure, but it sounds like one of the ESC's motor phases fried. That would explain the jerking.

My warranty experience with S&T was extremely pleasant. Ten days total from postal drop back to my mailbox and no questions asked after initial explanation.

Good Luck.

Hey MaxxMan we hope you have a good experience with A&T. Good luck with resolving that issue. Please drop back here and let us know how it works out for you. Sharing these experiences on here always helps other out in some way. That will be pretty cool if they just send you a refurbished controller.

That would be pretty nice or maybe a brand new version. I've sent them off an e-mail about it but they have yet to answer. I'm hoping to hear that I can send it back and for them give me another.

I've heard that putting it in the freezer weakens the arctic silver and the heatsink pops off but personally i have never tried it.

I am also having a problem with a 125b and an 8xl. It is stuttering badly on startup and once it is moving it does not go very fast! I have a spare motor and esc and will try swapping parts until it clears up. Was wondering if you could give me S&T's contact info and shipping info in case I need to send it back. The esc is out of warranty so do they have a std charge to fix it or is it depending on what is wrong?

Yup, the freezer trick is what I always use and it works great. The AS gets brittle with sub-freezing temps and simply pops off. Some people say to use heat, but I figure thermal epoxies are meant to cope with heat, so am not sure how well that would work. I would think the epoxy would get gummy if anything, but who knows.

To contact S&T: http://www.sky-technology.net/home.htm and click on the contact tab...

Also, FWIW, I don't think S&T has an issue with thermal epoxy on the outside of the case, but someone here (Aragon IIRC) did the "internal mod" and they gave him some flak about it. I imagine it does make it harder for them to replace components. They did honor the warranty though. Still, you might want to remove any external heatsinks because you may not get the original back...
