CRT .5 is very noisy

Hi All,

Just did a conversion on my CRT .5 to the RC-Monster Brushless set-up. I really like it.

But one minor issue. ITs very noisy. I have the gear mesh right. But that 32 pitch metal on metal is LOUD.

Is there any way to quiet it down?

TIA

the pitch is mod 1

and yes it is rather noisy, its normal

i set my mesh a little loose

i had thought about puting some dynamat on the spur to see if it would make it less noisy, but i got used to it

My plan is to get others in my area interested in these CRT conversions at the local indoor electric track so we can have our own class :)

The "issue" if you will of the sound, is that most of these guys are used to that pseudo quiet 64 pitch. Guys at the track thought there was something wrong with it because it was so loud. They thought it was eating something.

I just don't want them to get the impression that there's something wrong with it and don't "buy in"....

Yup - pretty noisy compared to the 64 pitch 1/10 scale setups. You can hear the "noise" mine makes all the way up on the driver's stand of this video.

Hiya Bushy, the one I just sent you is pretty noisy too. I've been asked if the diff was being eaten. I have seen some talk of using a Kyosho plastic spur. Tell them the only reason they are hearing that is there no exhaust noise to cover it up. I'm sure metal clutch bell's on metal spurs are noisy too.

I have to laugh a bit. Cause when my buddy and I were talking about the noise, I mentioned to him that I saw this video on YouTube of this CRT and you could hear it all the way at the far end of the track...Turns out to be your video! :)

Well we'll just live with the "noise" then!

There was a dude on here that documented his build using a kyosho plastic spur. That would definitely help with the noise.

not too sure about the dynomat though... maybe if you were installing a subwoofer in your crt.5.... seriously though, where would you use it?

That dude was me. I've been running the nylon Kysosho spur from day one and it's still very noisy.

i was thinking of putting it on to absord vibration, may make it a little more quite

Cool then...We won't worry about it....
