Lipo in Airsoft Guns = LOL

Well, a couple of my buddies (but not me) are quite a bit into airsoft, and have Fully Automatic Electric Guns.

One shoots about 400FPS (feet per second) and the other shoots about 300FPS.

They both run on ~1500mah NiCd Packs. They are 7 cells, so 8.4v.

Well, we found out the guns can handle extra voltage, so we decided to hook up one of my FlightPower 3S 3700mah EVO25 packs. Anyway, results were RIDICULOUS.

Firing rate went from a "pop pop pop" to a constant hum. While the amount of BB's coming out of the gun appeared to be a solid stream. Me and my buddies were in tears laughing. It was so much firepower its almost not even funny.

(now they all want Lipo's for their guns)

Just thought I'd share...

Just be careful you don't shatter the mechanisms inside the gun!

I'm using a 2500mah 4s Polyquest Lipo in my Umarex G36 instead of a 7,2V 500mah Nicd Battery. It is really so funny, i'm using now 30g 6mm aluminum balls it is now so powerful and fast that i can shoot through a (i don't know how it is called in english, so here is a pic  )

It's cob of corn and that's pretty impressive. I remember upping the power of my plastic cap guns which we converted to pellet guns as kids. They would of course blow themselves apart but they could put the rubber pellets through hard plastic but that was the extent of my pellet gun experience. What do you do in airsoft? I have only ever heard of it on this forum.

Airsoft is very much like paintball, only a bit more realistic I suppose since the guys use replica guns which fire those little plastic bbs. All about stratergy & defeating an enemy in a simulated combat environment. www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums is a great site, loads of guys from all over the world. I have to agree though, upping the firing rate is cool, but it will ruin the internals much quicker so I would upgrade the gear sets and pistons before they fly apart, unless they are already upgraded that is....

you will need some damn nice guns to be able to withstand to that kind of power.

you should get some vids of this!

Maybe a slow motion vid of it too ;)

One advantage of airsoft is it doesn't hurt as much as paintball.

I don't know man, airsoft stings pretty bad at close range. I've bled from numerous shots, most of which the BB got somewhat lodged in. Got a couple scars from it...

I haven't had a chance to try paintballing but I've seen some pretty big welts from it.

I love how airsoft BBs bounce. When the framing was finished in my house it was sooo much fun to play in there. They would bounce back and forth in some of the hallways.

That sounds bloody dangerous. especially watching those videos a lot of the guys were wearing ordinary safety glasses. A shot from the side could be a problem.

My brother cracked my glasses with a spring pistol. Gas pistols and other higher FPS could really do some damage to your eyes.

have you ever played paintball?

imo airsoft hurts worst.

you usually have less adrenaline going and its SUCH a thin little BB so it has no surface area to dissipate the pressure.

ive played both for the past couple years and id rather get hit with some paintballs while playing in a game.

now if its just for fun and im going to let my freind hit me while i have no adrenaline. id let him hit me with an airsoft gun.
