Q's about the Align 600XL motor
 

I just bought one on eBay yesterday for the Rustler. I was planning on running 6s LiPo since that's what it's rated for. Any chance it could handle 8s without destroying itself? I ask because 6s would require buying new batteries. Either way I need to buy an ESC. I have my two MaxAmps 4s 4Ah here already so I'd like to use them if possible. What is the RPM limit on the 600XL? I can't seem to find it anywhere... The speed on 8s would be just shy of 50k RPM. What do you guys recommend?

You might want to PM lutach, he ran a 600l on 36 volts and had decent success with it. I ran mine on 5s and it was fine, 8s might work well, you would have some serious power!

Well the 600 motors are pretty much alike so that could work out nicely. Thanks, I'll shoot him a PM.

The 600xl has a lot of power on 6s in a Losi 8t. It also has a lot of acceleration on 4s in a Hyper ST, but lacked some top end. Running it on 8s in a rustler sounds like a lot of power. How fast are you trying to get it to go?

Well that's up for grabs. What's more important to me is acceleration. I want it to be gone before I hit the throttle. Insane speed is just a side effect of insane acceleration. One of these days I'll find somewhere to race it. Probably the airport runway - we'll be seeing who can take off first. :oh:
