Short circuit
Hello!
Just a little question.. I was just wondering if controller would short circuit is it possible that it destroyes ubec and li-saver? My controller in some reason did short circuit and I bought a new one and try to test my ubec it didnt work at all. Now I have a new it works well. But now when im connecting li-saver the motor start to act crazy. |
I'd say yes based on when my MM self destructed on 4s it took my castle UBEC with it. Not sure what blew but input and output voltage became the same...
No ill effects it appears on RX (sr3000) or servo for having 16v through them for a short time. |
The CCBEC ought to come with a fuse. I fried one testing amp draw, had a brain fart and when I went from amps to test volts without switching the leads...... puff

just put a 2 Amp fuse in it...

I used a 7.5 Amp fuse, it's supposed to handle 10 Amps.

Just wanted to know is it possible to short circuit all the things.. Now I dont have any problems with the controller, have to buy a new li-saver though. |
Loving my Cellshield http://www.dimensionengineering.com/CellShield.htm (as long as you don't use reverse- it defaults to 1.0ms which is full reverse or full brakes) it has an adjustable cut-off and you can use a temp probe as well. I havn't hot the temp probe yet but I'm going to use it to safeguard the motor from getting too hot.
It monitors each cell, dosn't require any special balance plug or pin-out, dosn't interfere with throttle signal if you don't plug in a lipo(if you throw in a nimh once in a while), and has already kept me from going below voltage on a brand new 3S MaxAmps pack (3.4v-3.3v-2.9v, the MM cutoff was set to 9.6v and the cellshield was the backup safety at 2.9v). |

Digital camera is down for a bit till I replace the battery. It's a universal micro-fuse holder I bought from napa (auto parts store) and I just put it into the positive lead to the CCBEC. You can get a range of fuses from any auto parts store around. I went with 7 1/2 amps as I figured the servo (or both steering and brakes on my hyper7) would never pull enough to blow it, but would keep the BEC alive should I do something stupid again.
