This should be enough power!

Hey Guys!

Check out the new AXI 5345 I just picked up off Fee-Bay new in box for $180. :mdr:

This is not for a monster truck project, though. It is actually for an E-bike conversion I am building. But, I thought I would show it to you guys.

This thing is rated at 93% efficiency at 50 amps and is capable of 4000 watts continuous and 6000 watts peak! Not bad for $180.

I have a smaller AXI in a scratch built truck and I love it. If this motor proves to work well enough in my E-Bike (should be a rocket), I may have to pick up another and start a truck project based around this motor.

that's nice.. 93% @ 50Amps.... hwo many cells can it do..?

MetalMan 12.14.2007 12:34 PM

What's its kv? I know it's going to be 225, 195, or 171. I too am curious what voltage you'll be running.

BrianG 12.14.2007 01:15 PM

Hmmm. 4kw at 50A would be 80v. 21s lipo or 66 NiMH cells or 24s A123s?

Mod Man 12.14.2007 04:36 PM

It is good for 12S. This motor is 225 KV.

It is rated at 4000 watts continuous. At that 4000 watts, the efficiency drops to the high 80s. Still it is ggod for 2500 watts at that 93% efficiency.

At 6000 watts, the efficiency obviously goes down.

I will be running 12S 10,000 mah through a HV110. :)

Should be fun!

what is the advantage of running 12s in this system rather than 5s on a 2.5d?

i just probably first ask what kinda truck its going in?

Mod Man 12.14.2007 06:46 PM

It is going in an E-bike.

12S will give the most power.

I have a similar AXI in a scratch built truck on 6s and it is fantastic.

Two things: the gyro effect (a spinning object resists a change in lateral direction) and centrifugal force.

pics ot the bike??? I don't think t-maxxracer gets that your talking about an actual bike. You're talking about a full scale bike right? The rider should help keep it up:lol:

t-maxxracer32 12.15.2007 03:25 AM

theres no way that little motor could power a 1:1 bike... or so i wouldnt think.......

Mod Man 12.15.2007 10:35 AM

What is it they say? "Size doesn't matter?" (It does make at least a bit of difference, by the way).

Yes, this is for a full size bike, a recumbent.

A typical man has the potential energy of roughly 200 watts oof power in his legs. This motor is capable of 4000 watts continuous. If you do some E-bike research, you will find that typical E-bikes run about 400 to 600 watt motors and those motors are 40% to 60% efficient. This motor will put out over 5hp continuous. That is more than a 50cc scooter.

Anyway, I know this is an RC forum. I didn't mean to confuse anyone. But, I figured you guys would get a kick out of it because I am using all RC equipment for this project.

holy crap that is insane. so this will be like a small pit bike? its just amazing to me that you will actually be able to sit on this thing and drive it around!:gasp::surprised::surprised:

how fast do you think it will be able to go?

BlackedOutREVO 12.15.2007 03:28 PM

Finally a motor that is powerful enough to put in my mini t:lol::party::na:

Thats crazy! Will be interesting to see what happens, I always wanted a E bike or something, but all of them out are powered by some sissy motors...... I want to burn rubber LOL..
