Alternative Extended Crt .5
Hi,
I decided to go a different route for my extended CRT.5 and opted for the OFNA extended Chassis http://www.amainhobbies.com/popup_im.../18750/image/2 The chassis is approx 15mm longer versus RCM's 40 - The chassis increases in weight from 142g to 204g and is also slightly wider and allows for a full size servo. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/Arct1k/002.jpg The kit was really well put togther and came with what looks like complete set of screws for the car (even though you use the old ones). The chassis is also slightly wider but not enought IMO for me to lay the battery pack flat. The key benefit for me was the full size servo (645) and retain the ability to to use the stock bodies. All you have to do is flip the front mounts to the back of the upright and fits fine. Also upped the pinion to a 16T/46 with a 3500 Feigao L on 3S 5000mah so it should fly... I'll see how it runs in the AM if the snow holds off. Cheers! http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/Arct1k/027.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/Arct1k/026.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/Arct1k/029.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/Arct1k/028.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u180/Arct1k/030.jpg |
looks great
|
So that's the chassis included with the RTR, right?
|
IMO the body is too small
Nice kit, nice price also =) looks good |
Matt - No it is an extended OFNA..
blackedout - The body is sitting a bit far back and the photo makes it look worse. I have a new body I'm about to paid which i should be able to mount slightly further forward... |
Ahhhh, I want to see some pics of the new one
|
So wait, OFNA makes 3 chassis's for the .5? I'm confused....
|
Yes - Stock, 7075 (lighter) and extended!
|
Ok, but the RTR version comes with the extended chassis I think, I know it uses standard servos for sure. I was thinking about buying RTR for this reason.
|
Difficult to tell from their site but you might be right - mine is a jammin...
PS has anyone looked at the price of the hop ups - $60 for ali c-hubs!!! They are 25 for the x1cr - go figure |
the rtr comes with the longer chassis. it also doesn't come with the threaded shocks or aluminum towers.
|
Man, that crt.5 sure looks familiar!
Looks good with the ext chassis. I really did not like how short it was, and the non-standard servo was cr*p too. A 7l on 3s will be ridiculous, in a good way:yipi: |
I have the same chassis going into my conversion and it is part of the updated RTR. Everyone on the nitro boards were ticked when the rtr came out with that chassis vs. what was on the current pro kit... :-)
|
I was going to buy this chassis today. But the tech at ofna told me you can only use a standerd sevo & not the mini servos. I have 2 mini servos all ready & did not want to buy another servo just to use this extended chassis.

I couldn't be happier with my RCM Extended Chassis Kit. It instantly was more stable than the old stocker, but initially turned a bit slower. I fixed this by reducing the stock 2* toe out to 0* toe. Now it turns great on our tight indoor 10th scale track. I mostly run 2.2 truck tires which give a really balanced look to the 40mm longer chassis.
