Emaxx motor setup question

Looking at getting my 2wd emaxx back on the road and was wondering what everyone thought of the following setup. The emaxx is completely stock save for diff and driveshaft upgrades and a gmaxx single speed. I have a feigao 15l and a bk 9920 laying around. Would that setup work well on 6s 4200mah 20c lipos? Total motor speed would be around 36k rpm. I would gear for around 40mph as usual. The truck is very light and all I do is bash!

The fact the rpms are at a nice 36k, and its lightweight+rear wheel drive only, yeah, that would work fine without any over heating issues. Only thing is it will probably want to wheelie like mad, buts thats all part of the fun....

Yep, I love wheelies!

My main issue was if the 9920 could handle the 6s lipo, not sure if it will come anywhere near 99 amp load, that would be 1500 watts output assuming that the motor is 70% effecient!!!!. The batteries would only be good for 80amps or so, which is still 1200 watts or so!. I have a feeling if it breaks 800 watts i would be suprised!

I think you're all set with the 6s. 20 cells x 1.2V/cell = 24V, a 6s LiPo is 22.2V. Even peak V are ok. 20 cells x 1.5V/cell = 30 volts, 6s LiPo peak is 25.2V.

I will give it a try and let you guys know what happens. Need a project for the christmas weekend to get away from the house. I would trouble shoot the LSP with the stuttering issues, but that is not as fun as getting the old emaxx together! And I have a few lipo packs to marry so that I can get my 4s powered revo back up and running! There should be alot of pictures and a very tired RC Pimp!

Nice bro.. I'm just thinking the exact same thing While looking at this post... I have my Stock T-Maxx with 4WD, running 6S & 8S, with the 15L.. it's a cool setup... and powered by cheap $100 OEMRC ESC... no heat issues what so ever... I'm thinking of putting it back on the road as well... maybe with some spikes on the rear and skis in the front...

That must be a fast truck on 8s, or do you gear it down some when uping the voltage? Spikes and skis sound cool, we will need a vid of that!

I've seen those and man they are a good deal. My only question has been if you can use the ESC brakes or are you using the mechanical brakes?

aqwut 12.18.2007 02:36 PM

I like the mechanical brakes and the PiStix... on 8S it's freakin' fast... but I only use 8S to show off .... but on 6S it runs very nice.... my gearing is 22/60T.. and I don't change the gearing... I just leave it as as... but the T-maxx is a lot easier on the ESC and motor than the E-Maxx... especially with the clutch mech. brakes.... I will try to get a video... But first I either have to make the skies.. or buy the kit.. I'd rather make it... Go DOLLAR store shopping... :) I'm sure I'll find something.... We just had a crazy snow storm here....
