I meant to name this thread: The NEW motor case design for Neu Motors!

I recently got a new motor and it would appear that Neu changed thier motor casing design so that you can replace bearing without opening the can. In other words the bearings are on the outside of the can. I like this design. Now there is no reason to have to open the can. Here is a picture you can see that the one on the left is the one with the new design.

I guess we will still have to figure a way to get the bearings out (when needed) and that may not be that easy.

i ordered mine about a month ago and mine is like that too.

Interesting. Trouble is, with the bearing on the outside, you will need to push it out of the front face from behind = inside. With it on the inside, you need to push it from the front into the can, so you have to open the motor up either way by the looks of it....

Does the new neu case also have the pinned endball? I read some where that the newer versions have little pins that secure the endball rather than just epoxy.

Installing the bearing might be a bit easier, but it looks like you still have to pull the motor apart to remove the bearing.

Very nice... if you ever need to replace the bearing, you can probably find a way to get it out because it wont matter at that point if you destroy it in the process. A couple of hook probe thingies should get it out.

Thats a good point, I didnt think of it that way- you could use a couple of those dentists probe things, the pointy needle type ones.... **shudders**

Yes I imagined a couple of homemade "J" hook tools might work to get the bearings out. I've only had one bearing on a Neu go bad so far. So hopfully I have some time before I have to worry about it again.

I wonder if the coils inside leave enough room to get some type of hook thing in there and push them out from behind.

I think the main reason for the change could be for ease of bearing cleaning, which would in turn make bearing replacement less of a worry. Could be wrong though...
