Any news on the Quark Plasma?
I've been looking forward to it, just haven't heard anything since the initial release on that Korean site. Anybody else know anything?
|
I guy at racing had one on the 21st. He's apparently number 1 rc heli pilot in Australia, so that helps him get stuff before most. He wasn't using it in his 8T though, because he said it didn't work well with his align 600xl (6 pole outrunner), but I don't know how much he played with settings.
I didn't get to ask him many details about it or how he got it, I don't even know if he got it to test or if it's available to everyone, but it looks nice (I didn't look at it long though), has a fairly small footprint, and he had the programing card with it, that looks good. |
I just went to my LHS and they have the quark plasma's in stock now for $340 Australian ($300 US), but like most things it will probably be a bit cheaper in the U.S.
Comes in a decent size box with cut out foam for everything to sit in. Comes with a 25mm fan, the programing screen/card, and 3 capacitors that are heatshrinked together on a small circuit board, but they need to have the 2 main leads soldered to the esc. Some of the specs were: 120amp (25C, full throttle) 6s max input and a bec that can handle up to 26v input. |

I can't wait 'til it gets here! |
120amps still, thats dissapointing. Actually, it seems to have the same specs more or less as the old monster pro, what gives? Are there any online photos or links to sellers?....
|
I don't think it was ever meant to be a 1/8th controller, plus it's footprint is about half the size of the monster pro. I think I read something quite a while ago saying that quark was going to make a proper 1/8th esc after the 1/10th plasma's were released. I haven't heard much since then though.
|
Ah, fair enough. If it does the same job but in a smaller package, that will make mounting it easier at least.

Here is the best info I could find http://rcforum.co.kr/news/entry/New-...-system-Plasma
It looks good to me, i like the interface box that comes with it! Hopefully it will work well on 6s, with no heat issues. 120amps should be good for most aplications, on 6s that is alot of power, over 3hp. |
Nice one Linc, that is just what I was looking for. It is a really neat looking item, even better than the MM, and the programming card/box is the best I've ever seen too. I see it runs sensored motors too 'without the need for sensor wires' (geh?), but there is the sensor port on the side so it should run hvmaxx motors and whatever else you chuck at it. I look forward to it hitting the USA shops and websites, I want to see a thorough test/review done....
|
I am with you on the thorough test results. I like to let other people to find the flaws before I buy anything:wink:
|
I wonder if it will really run 6s though
Looks nice |
It does look nice.
It's funny they mention the Plasma will run sensored motors with their software as it seems any sensorless esc can do this. |
Perhaps it can run sensored motors while actually using the sensors?
