Ammo in a revo?
 

how would the Great Planes Ammo 36-56-1800 do in a revo with a mamba max and twin 2s packs(4s). seems to be rated a lot like the feigao 9l... heres the specs on it

its the 540 size motor and takes no less than 14.4V, so on 4s do you think it would run it good? i have standard gearing with the close ratio and will be using the tekno conversion

depending on how heavy your revo is, it may or may not be ok. The 9L is not the most popular motor here. People tend to go for the larger XL size, or in the case of the ammo, the 36-88- 1280, which would be killer on 6s.

If 4s is what you are going for, I highly suggest the 9XL with a rc-monster motor clamp. Best bang for your buck right now.

that 1800 will be a dog on 4s. If you can go to 6s, then go for it. Your MM is not going to like 6s though.

The ammo 26-56-2600 will be a much better choice for a MM on 4s. I ran that setup in my e-savage for quite some time, and have a close friend still running it in his emaxx.

If you plug the numbers into the speed calculator, you'll see what I mean. 4s is not enough voltage for an 1800kv motor. I don't think you can gear up enough to compensate without overheating that little can.

my problem is, the 9xl is too much money to be a bang for my buck. i can get the ammo for $35. and asking tekno, they say on 3s the 36-56-2600 will be a killer track truck, and on 4s it will make plenty of bashing power. and i plan to run it on both 3s and 4s. so ive decided to go ahead and get the ammo 36-56-2600

As long as you leave the 2 speed and mech brakes this motor should be fine. Just keep an eye on temps.

already got it planned. thanks for the info again though. i actually figured out that i was going to be using the 2600 before someone replied to this post. haha thanks for the help though guys

What gearing did you find that works the best with this?

Actually... Just before I ordered the motor I got convinced to get a Mega and absolutely love that motor. The 36-56-2600 is a 9l with a different can basically though. I have seen a video comparing the two and there was no difference. Same gearing and everything. Sorry guys...

The XL motors get warm pushing a revo around... This is alot smaller motor. It will probably overheat. My friend had one on 3s in a 3905 Emaxx and it lasted about two packs.

I just did a test run in my E Revo with a 36-50-2600 Ammo motor.

Power is there! You can't hit wide open throttle without doing a standing backflip. Wheelies at speed, rooster tails of gravel, the whole nine yards.

The only thing is, on 4S 5000mah 20C Lipo and geared 20/68, it does tend to get hot after about 10 minutes.

I'm not running a heat sink yet, but will be running a heat sink and a motor fan to see if that helps. I may still be geared a little too high. Top Speed is up there.

I can tell it's pulling some amps since I'm detecting some heat from the 125 amp Quark Monster Pro.

Quite the Peppy Motor if you ask me. I just have to get the gearing right and the temps in check. :yes:

Are you running an actual e-revo or converted? And from what I've seen, every motor in the world is going to get hot after about 10 minutes of hard running... Do you have any videos of the truck? Or will you be taking any?

I'm running the actual New E Revo that was just released.

I know the inrunners run warm, but if geared properly I believe they should keep temps in check. At least in the 160 to 170 range. Cooler than that would be even better, if possible.

I may make a few vids of the truck once I get it perfected.

There are several motors here that I have on hand. Plans are, to try each one until I find my favorite, most powerful setup.

The Nemesis 14xl I just took out of the truck is going to be hard to beat. But it needs to be fed on 6S. So until I get my Monster Mamba, I'm going to set the 14xl to the side and see what else I can come up with.

Instead of the 20/68 gearing, maybe 16/68 would work better.

Depending on your temps now, I would try 18/68 first. Have you seen the outrunner-inrunner hybrid thing on hobbycity.com? Seem like those might be pretty friggin strong if they have the torque and power of an outrunner.
