Modding and programming the Mamba Max

I couldn't find a thread like this, and most set-ups are unique so I had at ask. I am curious on mods to the Mamba Max people are doing on their own. I am a Mechanical Engineer, but have knowledge in electronics so I am not new to this, but not a professional. Now I have seen on the forum a cap bank being made, this seems like it would be good for smoothing out changes in load, but does it help that much? As of right now I was going to add a fan on top and a cooling tray under it. I have ideas and seen other mods, but don't want to pop an over $100 ESC over some stupid move. Also any tips on programming would be appreciated. Thanks!
Set-up:
-losi 8T truggy
-Feigao 9XL
-MM
-Castle BEC
-True R/C 4S2P Lipo 8000MAH

General programming for your setup would start with 50% punch control, lowest timing and normal start power. depending on the gearing, you may need to raise the start timing and lower the punch control.

If you want to know how to make a MM that does not need a fan, contact griffinru. He has modded some MM for me and I have tested them with heavy vehicles on 4s with great success, and without a fan. He added caps, extra heatsinking and a few addl components to the input. He knows the mods best, and he has a thread on it here somewhere.
