ammo 36-56-1800 in a truck?

would the ammo 36-56-1800 work well in a revo or e-maxx on 4s and a mamba max esc? the price ive found is unbeatable and i think it has similar performance to the feigao l and xl series motors.

the rpm's will be kind of low. the 2600 may be a better bet for 4s, for the 1800 I'd want at least 5s, and I'm not sure I'd run the MM on 5s. Lot's of folks @ e-savage.com use the 36-56-2600 on 4s though. I had one myself but burnt it up, got sand in those darned vent holes.

was it a good motor though? as good or better than the feigao? performance wise how did it do? i want to know as much as i can before i get around to purchasing anything. would you recommend the motor? if i seal off the openings.

it was a great motor, although it likes to get a bit warm. Be careful of the temps if you seal up the vent holes. On 4s, it was a screamer. I'm running a feigao 8XL now, and of course the Ammo was no competetion for the 8XL, but I imagine it's pretty well matched to a 9L, and supposed to be even a bit more efficient. My buddy is still running the Ammo on his E-maxx, and it's holding up great. We got them at the same time, but I had too many beers and too much fun in the sand while vacationing at the beach, lol!

sounds good. for the price ive found it seems like a steal. good for a revo? what kind of speeds would you suspect out of it? and what kind of torque does it make? enough t od oa standing backflip? if not then apparently my vxl is stronger.

It is somewhat on the small side- about S~L can sized. Check the gearing calculator for speeds you can expect, but I suspect if you gear it speed it will run very warm and not give very much torque- just too small. Better off with an 8XL on 4s & MM esc...

i cant afford that though. i cant afford a $90 motor

suicideneil 12.28.2007 12:51 PM

$90? You need to look around for better prices m'laddo:

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=fei-540XL $70
http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=1968 $70
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...WAND_XL&cat=20 $80
https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITED...idProduct=5225 $47.50

unitedhobbies has no stock and don't know when they will be in. Thats the only prob. there.

Truth be told, I think just about everywhere I looked is out of stock almost, except for some of the odd sizes like 12XL or 6L etc. Feigao cant keep up with demand it seems, and ebay isnt much better- several L can motors available, so it might be worth settling for one of them- 9 or 10L on 4s maybe?....

what about the novak 4.5? would it compare to the feigao?

No...

suicideneil 12.28.2007 05:16 PM

Its a smaller magnet, higher kv, and still runs rather warm. The feigao XL motor comes in a variety of kv ratings ( aim for about 2200kv on 4s/12 cells), is much more powerful, has a stronger/larger 5mm shaft, and is about 2/3 the price. If you had to, the 6.5 motor would be better, but its still nowhere near as strong.
