What are your opinions on these? Im a little skeptical after owning ultramaxxs

Cheap rip-offs. The same guy keeps selling these supposed 'one-off' items over and over again, and he has about a dozen or more accounts on ebay. Some ads say they are Ti gears, others that they are just metal gears; either way, buy at your own risk- they are definately not Ultramaxxed or Ti.

Oh Im not considering buying them. Ultramaxx or bust...lol.

I was a sucker and bought a set for $99. He claimed that they were Ti but when I got them, they weren't. I disputed the purchase and he ended up refunding 1/2 my $$$. They seem to be holding up to everything I throw at them. Recently I converted my FLM tranny to a G-Maxx single speed and modified these gears to fit...pretty much seems to be indestructable..even with 6S and Neu 1515 2.5D/F. I guess I am happy with the final outcome...

He does have multiple accounts and doesn't list where he's from. I've asked questions about what material these are made of, and he won't answer me.

I would have got at least one set if I didn't get the "shady character" feeling.

I totally agree. My guess is they're aluminum gears, much like the set sold by RC4WD, only the idler gears are drilled to save weight like the genuine Ultramaxxed ones are. If only you could buy the output gear seperately, then we could have an all metal tranny for much less $$$.

they are steel neil, since a magnet stucks to them (i remember ssspconcepts tried that to determine what material they are made of)

Steel? Even better then. What gets me is steel gears would be great, even if they werent hardened, but the guy selling them seems to think pretending they are $500 Ti gears will get him more sales- which it wont because the advert is so lame. He cant keep selling the same set of 'one-off' gears for ever....

the only reason he can keep selling them as "one of a kind" gears is that there is a sucker born every minute. But I do agree... If he was just honest and told people that they were steel gears and that he is making them to improve the strength of the transmision he would sell more of them.

IMO steel gears are to heavy. I had an ultramaxxed trasmision at one point and it weighed a ton. It was tough for sure, but the weight of those steel gears was crazy. Especially when used in a full 2 speed setup.

Soon they wont be needed anyway. The new Emaxx tranny should be as tough as is necessary and as soon as the aftermarket chassis makers update their stuff to accept the new style tranny configuration (which will hopefully not be to long) the old transmision stuff will be obsolete for anybody except the folks that already have the older stuff.
