Brushless MT/Truggy race.
This is the track I usually race at. I didn't have anything to do with the filming or editing and the zoom makes them look a bit slow. Needs the volume turned up a bit if you want to hear anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Om0MrR7w94
The white car is a Kyosho ST-R with a plettenburg maximum on 2 trackpower packs. The christmas tree is a G2R with a hacker on 4s. He has since gotten a pletenburg maximum as well. The third car is my Thunder Tiger ST-1 Pro with a neu 1515 2.5D (1700kv) on 5s. Usually I use a 13/46 gearing, but we started racing in the middle of a 36C day (97f), so I went down to a 12t pinion to take some load of my unmodded quark, but I'd gotten used to it and couldn't be bothered gearing back up even though it was a bit cooler at night. 4th is was a brand new (first day it had been run) Kyosho ST-RR with a hacker C50 on 2 trackpowers. The nut holding his tie rod fell off after a lap or 2, so you only see him at the start. We did 5 races that day and I came second in all of them but this one :grrrrrr: The white ST-R won 4 of them, and the ST-RR won the last race (vid is of race #4) |

Yes, it's definitly a christmas tree:mdr: realy good video, it's funny to ear the sound of the electric truck compared to a nitro race. |
The guy with the new ST-RR had heaps of lights on one of his e-maxx bodies (he had a gorillamaxx before the truggy) and they keep trying to out do each other.
I've only gotten to race against the nitro's at a different track once 2 weeks ago, and it's really strange driving the car without hearing it at all. Usually I can hear it spinning the wheel, so I know to back off a bit, but with the nitro's it's sight only. The thing I like the most about racing at an electric only track, is that you can stand in the pits and talk without having to know there's other races going on. And no one tuning their cars in the pits trying to make you deaf. |
Yep, i've race aginst nitro last summer with my e-jato, and it's a pain to know when it's time to release or give trottle on my car.:mdr:

I got the neu 1515 2.5D (1700kv) and 5S for my new xray xt8. I was a little concerned with have a 1700kv vs a higher kv motor, since I want to have plenty of power and speed. Do you like that motor? My Xray is about 10lbs, and the gearing will be 16/48. |
great race. Interesting to watch. I think I am going to join the local club and maybe start racing this season. I'll at least use their track. I only have my mess maker to race though.

That was a good video, the white ST-R handles really well.

You might have seen this before, but this is my e-maxx geared 12.5:1 (yours geared 16/48 would 12.9:1) before I swapped the brushless stuff over to the truggy. I should give you an idea of the performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMZeTJFA2f4 Both my cars would be more than 10lbs. Racing is definitely a lot of fun, I probably wouldn't have gotten into rc if it wasn't for racing. Racers here are pretty lucky I guess, there's 4 permanent off road tracks that I've raced at that are within 1 hours drive from me, plus one that gets setup at a park for one of the interclubs. We also go to at track in Bunbury (2 hours away) sometimes for an interclub, and we also went to a two day interclub race in Geraldton (4 1/2 hours drive). That was a good track, it's was made for nitro 1/8ths. If every one that's been racing in the monster truck class in the last couple of months showed up on the same day there would be about 8 cars (all brushless), but usually there is 4-6 cars. |
Very cool video, thanks for posting! They guy with the Light up truck TOTALLY cheated! He cut a whole section of track! How did you guys let him get away with that?
Black Flag.... DM |
Yeah, he did cut a bit of the track :rules:, but I let it go, because I took him out so many times in that race. Plus I still came second for the day, so I wasn't too worried.
This an older race at a different track (5 minutes from me). Done by the same guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kegL54xigdQ Same 4 people plus maxd out from this forum with his UE/gorillamax. All 5 of us in that race have now gone/going to truggies. |
