*edit, oh yeah. the gears them selves are not correct. i usually use a program called GearTrax to create gears, but doesn't work w/ my updated solidworks. but the teeth count is right, and they at least look close. everything else is %100 accurate.

wow, great work.

rootar 01.05.2008 10:39 AM

you must have been really bored.... Looks good though what diff is this one modeled after?

phildogg 01.05.2008 11:01 AM

Great work.. I've never tried anything like this but looks nice.

Rootar, that appears to be a HB diff.

Ninmaxx 01.05.2008 03:20 PM

I just looked it up and the program looks very expensive... Did you download it for free?

id like to know also.....

suicideneil 01.05.2008 07:22 PM

The is a similar program called 'Rhinocerous' which has a free download version, the only restriction is that it gives you 25 saves then you have to register it & pay.

A4DTM 01.05.2008 10:10 PM

solidworks isn't free, but there's a student edition that can be had for around $100-200, but i've heard it only lasts a year then expires.. you can find "free" versions, if you know where to look.. if your into that kind of thing..

and yup, HB diff. I'll prolly do shocks next, and then start w/ the rest of the truck :)

BL_RV0 01.05.2008 10:14 PM

have fun :)

A4DTM 01.10.2008 04:50 PM

well, skipped the shocks for now, as i don't want to rebuild my shocks right now lol..

front and rear diffs - check
front and rear diff cases - check
center diff - check
rear arms - check
RC-Monster motor mount - check
chassis' just a template w/ the correct length, for now anyways..

by the way, i'm impressed with SW08's rendering options. especially the default scenes have been greatly improved. as well as more lighting options.

BL_RV0 01.10.2008 08:05 PM

that looks excellent!

ICUBoy 01.11.2008 12:34 AM

Wow- some of that looks spookily real!

What's_nitro? 01.11.2008 06:26 AM

Is that a Lexan chassis you got there? I really like the way SW renders, too. My high school shop used Autodesk Inventor so I just stuck with it. Plus, I know where to look. :mdr:

Edit: Oh chassis template. I saw the double reflection and I thought it was clear poly.

suicideneil 01.11.2008 08:51 AM

I can just about imagine how thats gonna look when its finished- pure brilliance.
