Are Trakpower lipos woth it?
Ok, looking to replace my maxamps 2s 5k lipos. One pack let go so it will have to be returned (4 cycles and both cells are dead?). Looking to upgrade to the trakpower lipos. I would run 2 of them in series for my revo (8xl, mm, geared for 40mph). I would also use them in my terror conversion (7xl, mm, geared for 45mph) The 5000 maxamps packs we run in both of these and I was not really impressed. The voltage seemed to drop a bit more than i think it should. The batts did not heat up too much, but I think I was at the limit with them.
From what I read here the enerland cells are quite a bit better, is this true? has anyone used both the trakpowers and maxamps 5k cells? The revo has a center diff (slipperential) and is not very heavy at all, neither is the terror (maybe 10lbs). I think that 100 amps continuous is enough, just wondering if the trakpowers will hold voltage well at that level. Thanks a bunch guys, you are a ton of help! |
I used to have some MaxAmps 8k packs, which have a higher current capability than 5k packs.
I switched over to FlightPower Evo30 4500mah 2S packs (a pair in my G2R to make 4S) and the performance is incredible. These put out TONS of power without a sweat. Most of the time they barely get more than 10-15* above room temp, if that. The 3S Evo20 3700mah packs in my CRT.5 stay cold. They are AMAZING packs and will dish out whatever you need them to. MaxAmps packs are good packs, but I honestly believe they are overpriced for the performance they offer. A Maxamps 5000mah 2S pack is about $105 before shipping once you add on Deans and 12awg wire. Shipping is usually about 10 bucks, so we can say $115. Now, go to Tower and a 5000mah FlightPower pack is 119.99. However, they always have some sort of deal going on that if you just add on some spare parts to your order (or any other parts you may need) then you'll get a discount. FlightPower packs are the way to go, if you ask me. |
skellyo has a pair of trakpowers for sale, they went with the e-maxx roller I bought from him but I couldn't afford them, only a couple cycles, might wanna pm him

Are you running them cold? The lipo should be about 100f when you start to use them, especially if it is cold outside.

They start out room temp ~80* and really never get above 90 or so. Sorry, they aren't physically cold, but in relative to most packs, they are "cold."

The classic cerwin's with the red surround are my favorite all time speaker, I've heard Martin Logans and b&w's on krell amps, I'll still take a pioneer reciever and some cerwin's anyday!

Umm...wrong thread? lol

BP Revo- I thought about that. It's linc's thread and he got me thinking about my first house system, my a.d.d. kicked in and I wrote about audio. I gotta go, I just saw something shiny.................

I dont think the maxamps are really bad but I do think they are overrated. With the amount of $$$ most of us on here spend on brushless systems it kinda seems like a waste to skimp on the battery. IMO |
btw- y'all should hear the four 12" infinity subs in my fullsize van, in sealed enclosures. loud and tight, along with 3 pairs of infinity components in all the doors, yep, all us boys like our toys! g'night all:sleep:

how about the Neu Energy 2s 5000mah hardpacks. They use enerland cells too, and are a little cheaper than the trakpowers. I replaced my maxamps lipos with these and haven't looked back since.
|
I also have the neu 5000 hardpack and really like it. I run it in my T4 for the indoor season. Also as you said the price is very good on them. I dont think there is any difference in performance compared to my flightpower 4900 car pack but it will save you about $20.
