How Much Over 40,000 Can You Spin a Neu?
I have a 1515/1y ....how much can you go over the optimum 40,000rpm without overheating/premature wearing?

20,000 Rpm more gets you to the rpm limit of the motor, I am sure there is a safety factor built into that so I would go ahead and run 60,000.

Helicopter fliers have tested in their setups that the 1500 series performs optimally between 52k and 56k RPM, assuming you can gear those speeds to something sane.

I run mine at up to 48,000 on a regular basis with no overheating.

I run mine around 40,000+ give or take...no probs, I'm sure it can do a tad more too, but I don't like pushing it to the limit....

Specs on the Neu 15xx Series say 60,000 rpm max

I ran my 1521/1Y with 10S lipos and it was scary at 57000rpm. Blew my rear diff.

What controller are you going to use austinmaxx? It had better have a good heatsink. It's gonna get hot real quick at those speeds if it doesn't. If you dont have one yet I'd go with MGM.

60,000 is the max. You will not get any more RPM out of it. If you try, the motor will actually run slower and heat up.
I have seen 3600 watts out of a 1512 (8 second run). I pull the same 3600 watts out of my 1515 but with FAR less heat buildup. Neus ROCK! Matt |
With 4000+ watts easily attained with the 1521.

I have a MGM 160/18 I will be using, just wanted to know how much I need to hold to the 40,000 rpm sweet spot everyine seems to...I can see you have plenty of wiggle room around the 40,000ish sweet spot thats what I wanted to know ..thnks!

This would depnd on how much voltage your are putting through to the motor. Also gearing and diffs. For example: I run 5s on my 1515 1/y....so that's
18.5 x 2200 (kv) = 40,700 RPM. Now you cn figure in closer using brian's calculator as well with the gearing you have. |
