has anyone used true rc lipos?

Has anyone tried the lipo batts from true rc? The prices are really good but I'm wondering about the quality as compared to something like maxamps.

squeeforever 01.12.2008 01:11 AM

I think there better than Maxamps packs.

gixxer 01.12.2008 02:03 AM

I dont know if I would say they are better then maxamps packs. I would say there ratings seem to me much more realistic though.

I've never heard of a TrueRC pack puffing...Heard of plenty of Maxamps packs though. I think there better in general. Better quality when built, better prices, more accurate ratings, if not underrated, etc.

TrueRC lipos are a great deal. They cost less and I feel, are made better. (thicker shrink wrap, 12awg wiring, realistic ratings.) I've switched to them now after I bought a set used.

TrueRC - 4S 5000mah 12awg = $90
Maxamps - 4S 5000mah 12awg upgrade = $197

That's over a $100 difference!

TrueRC - 5S 5000mah = $110
Maxamps - 5S 5000mah = $243!

I love maxamps and there service but when your on a budget and pennies count. "You gotta do what you gotta do."

I love my true rc 6400s I own 2 3s packs and 2 2s packs. my only complaint is that they dont really fit in the same area as a standard 6 cell pack. caused me to gut my rustler, but it was still worth it.

If you use their 4S2P 4000 pack you will be suprised how small it is.

I love them, unbeatable for their money.

1 4S1P pack does 1400 watts without dropping bellow the 3V per cell (this is with their OLD type of cells, their new cells are even better) so that's a nice 2800 watts of available power on 4S2P.

My TrueRC Packs haven't puffed on me yet, even when running over their ratings.. I'm about 99% sure they use HeCell lipos...

squeeforever 01.12.2008 02:31 PM

They even use the same cells as Maxamps and yet there near half the price...

Well i am looking for new lipos because my current kokam h5 3200 are underrated for my revo :(

I am a little bit afraid of using a 10C Lipo in a revo with about 70A pikes on wet streets. The 5000mAh pack of true rc can handle 110A burst but only 50A permanent current? It sounds strange

squeeforever 01.12.2008 04:09 PM

Go with something using the 4000mah cells.

jhautz 01.12.2008 08:20 PM

If you go true RC for the Revo get the 8000mah packs built with the 4000mah cells. 4s2p They will handle your revo no problem. I have a couple sets of the his older cells for quite a while now and they are still kickin no problem.

Oh yea and Squee... I puffed a set of TreRC packs. I nose planted a landing in my revo and the Gmaxx straps snapped and the lipos went flying out of the truck. One puffed, the other is still runing more than a year later. Any lipo would have puffed with the gouge in the pack that crash left though.

GorillaMaxx360 01.12.2008 09:45 PM

i have nothing bad to say about my true rc batteries, you cant beat the price and they run great.

squeeforever 01.12.2008 10:06 PM

Yea, any pack woulda puffed given that.

He PM'd me and asked me a few questions and he finally decided on the TrueRC 5K packs.

mabu 01.13.2008 05:30 AM

 - i gonna get the 5k true rc pack when it's back in stock, so i can use them as 4s2p in the revo and later this year as 8s1p in a emaxx
