Can Someone Help Identify this Brushless Mystery Motor?

I just picked this up from Ebay. At $15 bucks with free shipping, I couldn't resist.

It is a Mystery, even he didn't know what it is. I don't recognize it.

It is a good flexible size that should fit a number of vehicles.

He says it is 45mm long, 39mm in diameter and has a 20mm long shaft. Appears to be a 5mm shaft. Hmmmmmmmm........

Maybe if you remove the Carbon Fiber lable off it may say something!?

No, it comes like that. I can't remember where I saw them though. I'll see what I can find.

Do you know about what size car this motor is made for? It will help narrow down the search quite a bit....

MTBikerTim 01.14.2008 01:15 AM

It's probably for a plane.

I've seen the same kinda motors on ebay before, but I never paid much attention as to their specs or anything.

did you want to learn the identity or help identify it? For the latter I would dye it's hair bright yellow and get its nose pierced, it worked for me in high school:yes:

I seen mini sized with the blue ends and CF tube for can (rc18/mini t) but i can't remember the name sorry

Thanks for the input guys.

When I get it, I'll run it in my Rustler or something and see how it compares to motors that I've had experience with.

I found out the maker of the motor. It is a HiMax outrunner. That model is about 3 years old.
It is similar to this, The can style was the givaway. Most makers use certain cans for thier products. The CF Decal just didnt look right with the motor.

These are the older designs that I was refering to.

Hey you could be onto something there.

If it is a Himax motor, then it's dimensions best fit the 500 watt models:
HA3618 Brushless
500 Watts

• Designed as direct replacement for 500/550 type can motors - same diameter & mounting pattern,
• Direct replacement for B50S and Aveox 36/15 type motors,

HA3618 -This 500 watt motor is for midsize models weighing 48-62 oz for 3-D flight, up to 80 oz for aerobatic flight and up to 100 oz for leisurely flight.
HA3618-2300
HA3618-3000
HA3618-4500

I'm pretty sure it comes with the carbon fiber, but I'm not 100% sure.

bigandy 01.15.2008 09:55 AM

That looks like one of the Model Motors MiniAC brushless motors, they have the blue anodized end caps, and carbon fibre casings. The only thig is that the MiniAC motors only come in the "300" sized versions, which are a fair bit smaller in diameter than the one you have there....

Cheers
Andy
