In this thread you can find some information where to buy 6mm pinons:

You could also turn down the shaft to 5mm, then you would be able to use the pinions you already own.

Is the bolt pattern on these motors the same as normal 540 motors?

lincpimp 01.15.2008 11:35 PM

No, the kb has a 30mm pattern, nit the usually 25mm. Plus it has m4 threads, not the m3 in a std 540. I make my own motor mounts most of the time, so it is not a big deal for me.

I want to use it with the savage conversion and it would be a shame not to use that beautiful motor mount.

Thanks lincpimp you seem to be answering all my questions today.

No problem, I am sure that mike can whip you up a motor mount to handle the kb 45. I may use my kb45 8l in my savage conversion, (just bought mikes chassis and a ss kit) and I will make my own front mount. Mike's chassis sure is nice.

I am only able to answer them all as you are asking about things I know. Ask a question about a neu motor and I will be quiet!

I'd have to be able to afford one first .

Right there with you. I have issues buying a 300 dollar motor. I have spent some money on this hobby. I usually try to find hacker motors for sale. They have plenty of power and work wel with a MM. Most of the time they can be had for around 100 bucks. I will also say that the cheaper (feigao, KB) motors work much better with over 5s lipo. I have an emaxx with a feigao 15l (1600kv) on 5s and it runs fine, with great temps and tons of power. I have a feeling that the lower qaulity is more of an issue at higher amp draws, as seen with the higher kv motors.

The price to performance ratio is a bit high with the current neu motors, I think. I still want one but I probably will never get one. The MMM version sounds more affordable and the ratio will probably be a lot better if it ever comes out.
