My first thread and first Electric Monster!
 

Hey everyone. I read a ton of posts here when I decided to do an electric Revo and thanks for all the information. I ended up building a Tekno RC conversion Revo and I am extremely satisfied with it. I purchased a lot of different stuff but I think the Tekno kit is the best that I have seen. Here are some pictures and I will be getting some video real soon.

I've seen too many finned Feigao's lately, I just wanted to know if that's what it was. Neu's usually run on other ESCs, not us Mamba users :)

definatly a neu, it has the classic neu sticker on it too, and the blue red yellow wires, great job on the truck and welcome to the forum

BTW GTX: The MM doesnt seem to have issues with the Neu Motors when used in the Tekno conversion. The clutch that goes on the motor makes it so there is no load at all on the motor at startup so there is no cogging. Startup is the only time the MM has problems with the Neu, once its moving it runs fine.

True that. That is a very clean install, the Tekno kit is great in that respect. I wonder though, is it better to have some fun and design your own conversion & layout, or just opt for a kit which just needs bolting together and needs no real tweakage as such?...

If there is a well engineered kit that does what you want, why not the kit. If you are doing something a little more custom then you have no choice but to do your own. I like the custome projects personally. But thats me. I waste alot of time on these things.

You should upgrade to an MGM 16018 and run that thing on 6s lipo!

Wow, thank you everyone for all the replies and kind words. I can see what kind of forum this is.:yipi:

The motor is a Steve Neu 1515/1Y/F with the MM ESC. I have heard a lot of problems with cogg on this combo but as mentioned here, the clutch system eliminates/masks the issue which I have not even noticed once. Its kind of cool to be able to rev up the motor without it moving and then blip the trigger pressure and the truck will wheelie, flip on its lid, or just moderate the throttle and it ripps away. I am still using the 2-speed and it has been ok for about 6 packs.

I am using Maxamps 4S 6000.

For this project I really just wanted something that was perfect in fit and design. I didnt really feel like tinkering, filing, grinding, cutting, designing, etc.
Although sometimes that is fun. I wanted to be able to buy all the parts and just pretty much bolt it together and have a look that would almost seem factory. This is kind of my second priority hobby to RC heli's, otherwise I might have went for more of a custom design. I used to be into nitro trucks and cars for about 3 years but got completely burnt-out on the nitro mess. (no punn intended):tongue: I fly all electric helis and recognized the potential there in batteries and motors. Thats what re-lit the spark for me with doing some brushless trucks and cars.
