Neu motor choice
 

Can someone tell me the difference between a Neu 1515 1y/s 1y/f 2.5/d 2.5 all those different ones...can someone tell me what the difference is? Thanks!
im getting the MGM16018 controller going to have a TrueRC 5s2p 8000mAH lipo pack. which 1515 should i use for the best power/speed combo? Thanks,

also on my battery i want the 5s2p 8000 mah battery....does it matter like what the voltage is becuase it says "TrueRC 18.5V 5S2P 8000mAh" 18.5v is that fine for my application?

For that battery, the Neu 1515/2.5d will do good. It has 1700KV. And that battery will suite your application fine.

then where is says: "Enter kv rating of brushless motor" click on the drop donw box by that. It will show you the different KV rating of each of thouse NEU motors you listed above.

based on that im looking for, i want a neu 1515 1y with a TrueRC 22.2V 6S2P 8000mAh. that will run at 48k rpms which is fine so everything should be good correct? its only 8 ounces heavier than the 5s2p battery......ill be using the MGM 16018 controller so based on the specs everything should run good. anything im missing?

i want a good bit of runtime so going with the 6s would make the run time shorter?

6s will make the run times longer as you'll be drawing less amps to get the same power....

Heat will also be less as heat is produced at the square of the current (P = I * I * R)

I would not run 6s on that motor, I would go for the 2.5. Even on 5s, the 2.5 might be better. you can run the 1/y, it'll do fine (depending on vehicle of couorse), but the 2.5 would most likely be more efficient.

I am assuming this is for a revo based on your name....

The reality is the motor is rated for 60,000 rpm, but running them at over 40,000 really effects the effiency and generates a ton of heat. If you are planning to get a neu motor, choose the voltage you are planning to run and select the Neu motor that will generate somewhere in the 35-40K rpm range on that voltage. That should gice you a nice reliable setup.

My personal recomendation would be to get the 1515/2.5 on 5s and call it a day. Trust me that setup will put a big grin on your face.

If you havent seen one of these setupos run on 6s be prepared. Its a TON of power. I bash my revo on 5s and can easily out accelerate and outrun my buddies LSP that has a Fully Moded Novarossi 28 in it. 6s just breaks parts in the drivetrain every time you run it ands will take a significant investment in the drivetrain to make it reilable.

what are your run times and top speed with that setup?

run times on the true rc 2s + 3s setup I run is easily a half hour while bashing, probably more. but to be honest with you I rarely run a pack straight thru on 8000mah. I ususally run smaller 5000mah or 4350mah packs as I like the weight of them better
