FLM stapede or e-revo?
 

this question may be a no brainer for most :P i am looking to buy a second rc monster truck for bashing, electric of course, i am debating on either getting a FLM stampede with brushless, or a second e-revo. the price difference will only be about $200 but i am not racing or anything, which would be more 'fun'?

i like the idea of the stampede because it is easier to fix, seems more durable, and will go faster ( but not handle as well as the revo)

well since you already have one e-revo you would have parts compatibilty incase you needed to bum parts off one truck to get the other going or vice versa. As for the pede they are a blast but they are only 2wd, much less stuff to break and parts are cheaper also. if i already had a e-revo for racing id get the pede for playing.

I have both and will say that the pede is a fun truck. Not much point upgrading anything other than the trans internals, and the steel gears from the vxl pede is just fine. I leave mine all plastic, they are super light and fun too. I run a 12s feigao and 3s 4000 lipo and get over 30mins run time!

Since you already have a Revo, and the Pedes are only 2wd, I'd go with a CRT.5.

hmm, not really interested in 1/12th scale, although the pede looks like it, in comparison to the e-maxx. i would be getting a flm pede with extended chassis and a-arms, so it would be as big as my revo (2.5 chassis)

I like Squee's idea. I have a crt.5 and I love it...fast and durable. Mike's conversion kit is TOP QUALITY. All you would need is a MM and a motor. I used a Neu 1509, but there are more cost effective solutions out there...heck you could even get away with a MM/4600kv combo. Maybe even the new sidewinder combo...you'd just have to gear conservatively.

BTW. If you really like the Pede...go for it. But IMO, if you are going 2Wd...you may as well go on road...which REALLY opens a lot of doors in that price category (FLM Pede).

you have to realize him going with a crt .5 will cost alot more than a pede.

now if he went with an flm pede itd be a little more but still.

if money is not an option the crt .5 is pretty sweet.

even though its 1/12 scale if you throw some 2.2 proline tires on it you cant tell much of a huge difference. specially with the extended chassis

His prev post indicated that a FLM Pede was on the horizon...which equates to about a $50 diff between the two options. There is no comparison IMO. The Pede will be slow and unresponsive in comparison to the CRT.5:whistle:

I pretty much have all of the above... I used a CF chassis rather than the FLM one...

My 2c is either the CRT .5 or an 1/8 buggy... he pede being 2wd does not hook up like 4wd and really can't take the power.

Very happy with how it looks now but not as fun to play with as either the CRT .5 or my x1-CR.

PS I picked up a jammin X1CR for $125 shipped as a roller :) (minus wing) so with the RCM mount it was only $200 for a ready for elecs chassis.

I have both. I like the Pede for speed runs but its useless above 45 MPH. The is just too much power in the rear end. Go with something that has 4 wheel drive. Stay away from the 2 wheel drive stuff unless your planning on manly driving on hard top. I Like my Revo because I don't have to turn it over much. My Pede rolls a lot and I have a jato top on it with rustler body mounts. I can't get the center of gravity any lower and it still rolls. just my 2c.:whistle:

what other options are there in the $400 range(which includes necessary upgrades) and can keep up with an e-revo??

you could check out one of the vxl models (rustler is my favorite) and put it on 3s lipo to have theoretically 70+ mph. it really depends what you want to do. i have a rustler with a mamba 6900 in it on 3s li-mn, and it goes well above 70. my gearing is 87/19. (i know this because i raced my friends brushless tc5 and i won, about 5mph faster, and his was clocked at 73mph.)

the only reason i am not going for a vxl is because it is small, with a FLM extended chassis it has a bigger wheelbase, and is longer than stock by an inch, making it emaxx sized.

i think i will get a revo roller, a stampede roller, and sell my nirto revo intact, for the same price as the roller. since the roller has a lot more upgrades (roll cage, RPM a arms, better chocks, blah blah.

I've had a full FLM Stampede and now have a VXL Stampede. I'm just not happy with it compared to how my VXL Rustler handles. Even then, the VXL Rustler isn't even close to as fun as my E-MBX5. I never would have thought that I would enjoy an electric 1/8th buggy like I do, but it's just so friggin fast and durable.
