which is better for New emaxx? 1 motor or 2?

Im thinking of getting the e maxx but going straight w/ BL pwr. I have mamba max 5700 lying around along with Nemesis 7XL. Should I get another mamba max 5700 and make it 2 BL pwr with 6S config. or should I get another mamba max ESC only, and make it single motor w/ 7xl and go 4S? kinda confused.

also, is converting to twin pwr. pretty easy or is it complicated? thanks..

Single will pretty much always be more efficient, lighter, simpler, and more cost effective. The 7XL on 4s might run a bit hot and also require a fan on the MM, but otherwise should work pretty well.

I did my V-twin VXL on my maxx today and its a monster to say the least but its up to you.(vxl's are 3500kv much lower then the mamba) I havent run a single motor combo on the truck to compare so I cant say its better or not and if someone says 1 vs 2 or 2 vs 1 which one is better if they havent run both setups then ignore the dribble from their lips because people always assume they know whats best. I can add that yes its heavier and not as efficient but is a blast to run and will shred a set of tires....and has no problem slinging 1" stones 15-20 feet ...........I dont race I bash so this setup has a new home with me.......................TO ANYONE WHO HAS A NEW MAXX ON A SINGLE BL MOTOR NEAR DAYTONA BEACH OR ORLANDO FL I would love to put the trucks side by side and see the pros and cons of twin vs single......it would be a blast...........if a single is better I will switch but the price needs to be lower then 300 so this counts out neu and quark and mgm and well everything but a MM and feigao combo IMO its a fun power house combo for 300 bucks but do what you want thats why its a hobby its what you want/can afford to do I like my setup if someone doesnt then to bad they can pucker up to my brown eye..........its my hobby....my truck....my decision.........we all do this for fun

The problem with 2 motor systems on one spur- one motor and ESC will get fried, guaranteed. It is just a matter of time before one system has a hiccup and the big amp spike kills one or both systems.

I didn't know you were in central FL. I'm in Orlando.

No new BL E-Maxx for me...yet...but perhaps later this year.

If planning to use a single Feigao 8L (5mm shaft) in a NEW E-MAXX 3905 -

Do you need an extended pinion? -

If so , where are they available?

lincpimp 01.19.2008 11:37 PM

Not really, a std 5mm bore 32p pinion form mike here will do ak. The 5mm shaft alowws the pinion to be placed farther out on the shaft without damage to the shaft during use.

@john;

Two motors on 1 controller with both motors mechanically connected with the same gearing ratio works. It's not a matter of time; you simple need to center the motors into the same position before putting on the pinion. Centering them is quite simple. Apply a DC signal to two of the three wires, and the rotor jumps into position. Do the same with the other motor (same + and -) and both motors are positioned.

That sounds much safer that two motors with two ESC's. I have never heard or seen a dual motor/ESC system last for very long on a single spur.

I've had a DUAL VXL/ESC combo in my E-MAXX 3905 for over 20 charges and still running strong. We've run 2S (driveable) and 3S (insane) packs with out a single hicup, except for uncontrollable wheelies and tire ballonning.

Thankfully the VXL escs have a ton of safety features built into them, and I have yet to hear of anyone smoking their system, single or otherwise. I think the low price is their biggest plus point, otherwise it would be just as cheap to get a better single motor and esc- thank god for cheap chinese goods!
