Question to the Hyperion 0610i charger
I've try my Hyperion 0610i charger today, and try to charge a FlightPower EVO25, 5000mAh, 4s pack with it. Set the charge current to 5 amps and start chargin process.
During charging, i've take a look at the screen and see the current drop to "0" for few second and then return to 5 amps. It did it during all the charging process, so i don't take a chance and End the charge before the end. Do they have guys here how have the same charger and experiment the same thing????? Or this is normal on this charger?? Thank you! David |
no mine gradually drops charging amps as the charge progresses. but never 0 until it stops. next time i will watch it for you and make sure

mine do this sometimes, with lipos, a123 and nimh, IMO it's not a bad contact, it seems to be a re-estarting or re-check for voltages of the battery.

There's a similar thread about this and it appears to be normal. In older Hyperion charger models, the sequence you noted was something only found in NiMH auto mode (not setting the cell count and charge rate).
If I was to guess, I think it's just another layer of protection from the user accidentally using charge current settings that are too high. After all, how is the charger going to know you aren't trying to set a 10A current on a 1000mAh lipo pack? It can do a pretty good job of making sure you set the cell count right, providing you are putting a relatively depleted pack on it. When you charge CC, the charger has to output a voltage that will generate your desired current, and the voltage has to go higher and higher for higher currents. When you remove the charge current, the voltage dips back down. The speed and amount that the voltage drifts back down tells the charger if the current selected is appropriate for that specific pack. If the voltage doesn't change too much, your settings are ok. If the voltage dips back down quite a lot, chances are the current setting is too high. That's how I believe it works anyway from watching how mine works... |

David i just got my 610 & it does the exact same thing. David this is normal I think what the charger is doing is letting the pack seetle for a minute to get a true voltage reading & then it starts charging again. My charger did this at least 3 or 4 times charging my FP 4s 5000. David i just got of the phone with the US distributor for hyperion. He said the charger is supposed to do what you described. This is NORMAL so do not worry . |
