I now remember why I sold my 2wd vehicles....
Well, today I had my first real bash with my finally completed RC10GT. I wasn't jumping much, mainly just high speed runs through grass and sand. But after this bash, I now remember why I sold my 2wd vehicles. I couldn't even get on the throttle all the way pretty much because it would slide out so easily. I was running moabs which I guess you can say is decent for all around driving, but the car would just swing the rear end right around every time I pressed the throttle a little more than usual. Although the car is a blast to drive, it could really have the help of 4wd.... At least now I'll remember that for any new vehicle I buy, it will be 4wd no matter what the cost.
Kind of a random question, but how would you guys compare the AE RC8 and Losi 8ight in terms of durability and handling.... I know both have a lot of after market support already. I am mainly looking at those two buggies or a CRT.5 for my next conversion..... I just don't know which one to get. If it matters at all I can get the (all brand new) RC8 for $520, 8ight for $420, and the CRT.5 for $250. I may race every once in a while, but they will mostly be for general bashing. |
If you're looking for a durable basher buggy, check into the Mugen MBX5. You can pick one up for $330 from amainhobbies.com and they have tons of parts available and are pretty damn tough vehicles. With the conversion parts available for them, they're also real easy to convert these days.

agreed. I have no 2 WD vehicles at all anymore, save for my T3. I don't think I've touched it in 6 or 8 months. Although I do remember having lot's of fun with it and a MM Setup.

The GT actually is electric Hippie, which makes it even harder to drive  because of the torque.
What is the difference between the MBX5 and MBX5R? Is it really a $260 difference ($590 vs. $330? |

The differences are mainly bigbore shocks & a few other small things i cant remember. Not worth the difference in price unless your seriously into racing in my opinion. |
Somehow the traxxas VXL vehicles seem to handle the rwd power quite well. That's is on tarmac on loose dirt i guess it's 2wd sliding fun as well.
for your associated/losi question, Mike has got both vehicles, i think he knows which one to pick from the two. |
Thanks. I think I'll just send Mike an email. I'll let you guys know what he says.
Edit: Just realized I made a mistake in the first post. I can actually get the RC8 for $450. And I can still get the 8ight for $420. |
This is what Mike said:
