Friend looking to get into RC
hey,
he is liking the looks of the stampede vxl () or the wheelie king () and he also wants a nitro, but i said "dude, fuel is like $30 a gallon!" and that shut him up with the evil stinky shitt. now, he says he wants to go 65, but..... eh..... noob.... never..... driven..... rc.... ever..... ah crap.......... so what do you guys think of the vxl? he wants the pede because he wants do jump a lot. any opinions/suggested upgrades? his b-day is in 2 months and i think i might suprise him...... if you get the idea..... :eyes: he'd be all, ":yipi:" |
If speed is his thing, and there's nowt wrong with that, then the VXL setups are the way to go for a beginner (training mode). But you say he wants 65mph and jumping?... not really an ideal truck for that dual purpose, since the pede is a bit 'tall' for really high speed (will wheelie far too easily). I would say choose the rusty vxl for speed, and maybe get an old pede for jumping- they are cheap enough 2nd hand with stock brushed electronics. Thats my way of thinking anyway.

The VXL Rustler would be an excellent vehicle for speed or jumping. I jump the heck out of mine...

ill see what he thinks!

your friend better be a chick and really hot if your going to be getting that good of a present for him. if you just like dropping $$$ like that on friends, i'll be your friend. back on topic, i say vlx's are great rcs, and that platform has everything to make a good first rc experience. support, duribility, fast, fun, and lots of upgrades. i think its the perfect first rc.

Damn, I didnt know a rusty could fly so well! I would definately recommend it over the pede.... for some reason I just dont like pedes- looks like a rusty on stilts.

its a guy, he just happens to be my best friend.

One of my friends gave me an atv for my bday one year because I at the time was too poor to afford one so he gave me his (no hes not rich). Anyway back to the topic I think that the Rusty Vxl would be a good choice, just put it on a 7cell and training mode til he gets used to everything. Or if you think it would be too much for him maybe a XL-5 version would be better for him to decided if this is the hobby for him. |
ill decide when he comes over to my house tomorrow, and see how he handles my rustler with 17x2 mod motor and 7 cell.
|
i had freind who knew nothing about rc and he got a cheap little rusty for 30 bucks and he loves it. it is plenty speed for him.
when he uses my xt8 he is in shock and of course he loves it but still. for a first time truck i would say definetly a rustler. you decide if you want a vxl or an xl5 or whatever. |
if you don't mind spending the money, i would get the vxl over the xl5. its just such a good deal right now. to me it makes no since to get the xl5 unless there's $$ restraints.
|
get a vxl rusty with FLM arms, shock towers, and a few other thinms and it'll take a huge beating! lol
but i've never really seen or had a vxl system but i have a rusty xl-5 with a mamba max system and 2s LiPo in it and it's real fast and FUN! what battery will you get for his car? I don't think a beginner needs to start on a LiPo. but if he's smart then who knows. |
well, ill see how he controls my rusty today, and then decide what id rather get him.
