need better diff for rustler.
i eather need a metel case to go around the diff gears to elimanate flex. the stock traxxas diff doesn't seem to be holding up too well at all in my car! I'm hoping a metel case will solve the problem.
Where could i find one? or do i haft to go with a hole new diff? Thanks for the help! |
Do you mean an aluminum transmission case? Here's one:
http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...ny20000&cat=29 I have never stripped a plastic diff gear when using that. If you haven't seen it, here's Traxxas' steel diff gear: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSHA2&P=ML And of course Mike's HARDENED diff gear with aluminum case: http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...edediff&cat=29 |
i allready have the FLM tranny case. and the diff case is fine. it's just the gears inside the diff that keep braking!
|
... rc dude, you're not making much sense. you said you needed a diff case that the gears go in.. metalman's 3rd link is a steel/aluminum diff case.
|
Have fun with the diff internal gears, traxxas new batch of gears are too hard, I ended up using some really old gears and they have lasted. I went thru three sets of diff internal on one pack!
This is whatyou are talking about, correct:http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJJ20&P=M |
A4DTM: I was afread i wasn't making much sence. and the third link metelman posted, was the whole case steel/aluminum or just the teeth? If the whole things steel/aluminum then that is what i need. I just couldn't tell from the picure if it was or not.
lincpimp: those are the gears that keep braking. |
If you are having issues with the internal gears the al cased diff will not help. I am not sure what to suggest, the new traxxas batch of gears are too brittle. I used some really old internals, the gears we shinny, not black like the newer ones. Since then the diff has held up just fine. I also tried the al cased diff and it made no difference. Maybe a call to traxxas is in order?!

so where could i get some better internals? and yea, i think i will call traxxas. |
i called traxxas yesterday, thare sending a new diff but other than that all thay said was loosen the slipper a little.
|
I never had issues with the old ones either, and like linc said, there shiny
The new *steel* crap from the VXL stuff is no good....... |

ebay.
|
so i just look for the origanal rustler diff; the one with the stinger motor right?
|
hum, would the ball differential work better?
|
i havent had luck with the ball diff, it melts like loose slippers, i jb welded my diff internals for posi, but it makes it even harder to drive straight, but the roosts are awesome and my diffs last
