Motor and Esc choices for BL Revo???

Hey guys just wondering how a Neu 1512 2.5D motor would compare to a Feigao 8xl. I see that the Feigao is 2083 rpm with an 80 amp current draw and the Neu is 2000 rpm with an 85 amp current draw. I will be running a TrueRC 4s 8000maH Lipo in my Revo locked in 2nd gear.
I know the Neu is more expensive but I have a chance at getting it for $105 from a friend. Would the Neu be the same speed but run cooler possibly?

I am also looking at using this esc from HobbyCity: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=3728

This one looks similar but can handle a little more voltage and I see some people on this forum own it: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=4691

Would the first esc run fine with either of the motors I listed, or should I spend the extra $35 to get the esc in the second link?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Neu - More efficient -> longer runtimes, way less heat
Neu - 4 poles -> more torque, needs "proper" ESC
Neu - > high quality parts/manufacturing

I can compare 1512/2.5D agains 9XL and 9XL has no chance :)

Buy the XL and give me your friends number - what does that tell you...

At 110 it is a steal...

Wow! I knew that these Neu motors were good but didn't realize they were this good! Well then how about those speed controllers that I posted? Are they fine to run with the Neu?

Thanks

dont try to save on ESC. it's the most important part of the truck.
For Neu get MGM. for feigao Mamba Max if good ESC

In reality the MM update that was just released appears to make the MM a viable ESC for the Neu now. If you are planning only a 4s setup go with the Mamba max and the Castle Creations BEC and you should be solid with that setup. The MM is $135 and the CC BEC is $22 so for under 160 you have something reliable. I wouldnt mess with those other ESCs you listed. They are fine for those who want to experiment, but if you want something you can count on go with whats proven to be reliable IMO

Ok then I think i will go with the MM and update it with the new firmware. Then I will perform the mod1 upgrades to keep the temperatures down.

Thanks guys! These forums are filled with great information!

I have a the latest version MM, will the new firmware allow me to run 4s with it?

Arct1k 01.31.2008 12:51 PM

Old / new it runs 4s with an ubec - do a cap mod and add a fan to help it and you should be fine.

The firmware was for >2 pole motors.

The old firmware worked fine with >2 pole motors, it was to fix issues with slotted-stator motors...

Kewl! Thanks for the response Arct1k. There was someone here who does a Stage I and II modification, was it Artur? Rather than goof it up, I'd have someone else do it. I think I can start my next brushless project!!
