Neu Muggy conversion, need advice
 

I've been looking for the best way to set up my LST2. I found a Muggy chassis and center diff on e-bay. All the LST2 stuff fits the Muggy and I think it will work awesome as a BL. I just bought a 1512 2.5D motor, I have a Quark 80b or a modded MM. I have lipos from 2s to 6s in any combination. What would be the best combination of voltage/gearing for a long running general basher? I'm looking for high torque, low speed, maybe 30-35mph. Mostly I'm after durability and reliability. Is this a good motor for this application? I bought it because I got a deal, not because it's the right one!

How much does that Muggy weigh? Must be getting on for 10-12lbs I would've thought. I think that motor is somewhat on the small side really- just about enough fora maxx basher, but the muggy/lst is alot bigger, so you'd be better off with a 1515 sized motor. That said, if you are going to gear down then maybe it will work fine for a good 20 minute run or so. As for gearing/voltage- check the calculator out, it never lies!

5s would be good for bashing, 6s for a little more speed with that 1700kv motor; gearing will depend on the diff ratios, which I dont know off-hand (enter them manually into the calculator and then choose your spur/pinion ratio to get that 30-35mph you want).

I'm in the process of upgrading my brushless lst2. I'd second looking at a 1515 series motor or something similar in size (I'm going to do either a 1515 1y or a Mega 22/45/1e on 4s2p).

The diff ratio I believe is 3.308 on the LST2.

Neu is good because of US service. Mega is also good, but in case of repair, it has to be sent to the Czech Republic. I have a Mega ACn22/30/2 in one of my truggy and it is a powerful little guy.

Yes, 3.3 (standard buggy) diff ratio in LST2, the Muggy has a 4.09 ratio.

I've got parts coming from everywhere. I'm still a few days away from having enough of it to start assembly. I have an upgraded Aftershock now, the Muggy chassis, diff gears and other bits are in the mail. I think I've found a conversion mount from another member. I had been trying to decide whether to use the Aftershock tranny and 2 speed. When I found out that the Muggy uses all the same parts, well:yipi:
I have a BL 8ight, so my need for speed is being addressed elsewhere, this is for some lower speed bashing with much better "drive-over" ability.
I've tried lots of conversions, this one really has me pumped, I'm watching for that Canada Post truck!:whistle:

With the lower speed idea in mind, if I was to gear for say 30 MPH or so then what's a good setup for lots of runtime and no heat issues?

I just ordered a Mega 22/45/1e for a similar setup. I'm going to gear for mid to low 30's on the LST2 and am hoping for a good amount of torque.

I have to update the pics tonight. I got a first test drive in last night. It was -20 so I didn't run long. WOW, what an awesome ride. I absolutely love it. It came out exactly the way I was hoping, enough power to instantly spin up all four wheels and launch, but not enough to do backflips.
It has that "drive over anything" feel. I'm not at all worried about breaking it. Yeah, it's heavy, I haven't actually weighed it but it carries it well. Handling is outstanding, lands like a big cat. Stability is better than any other big-tire RC I've ever driven.

Setup: Modded MM, Feigao 7xl, 4s Maxamps 6000mah, 14t pinion, Spider Diff from Hyper7.

I might try my Align 600xl outrunner with the Quark and 5s Maxamps pack currently in my 8ight when there's some nice dry lawn to run on. Until then, the MM/Feigao works awesome, very little heat.

I'm hoping to get a video this afternoon if I can beat the sunset.

I think anything would run cool at -20, lol. Glad to hear you got a good running setup, I am really liking my Muggy.

I added completed Muggy pics. It's waterproof enough to keep the snow off and it rips. I ran it a bit in the shop today and it works just awesome. Pull the trigger and it spins up all four wheels and books. No wheelie action, just lift and launch.

As soon as it warms up a bit, I'll get some vids.
