MGM set to Freewheel then sometimes is does not

I have an MGM 160/18 and its set to freewheel but sometimes its like it brakes or stops freewheeling when I let off throtle sometimes, it seems to happen more when I am not on the throttle very long and when I am on throttle longer and let off it seems to happen less, other than that it works perfect......any ideas?

I had the same symptoms with mine when it was working. I never did seem to completely resolve it, although it worked better when programming with the TX rather than the usb setup. Try it with the TX, and you might have to do it more than once for it to stick.

yea I thought it might be tx or endpoint settings being weird hummm....I have the new spektrum DX3R I will try too

It almost sounds as though the failsafe is kicking in.

I have a MGM that I just recently received. At first I used a FM radio to progam it. It seemed smooth on the bench. Then I changed to a Spektrum and it was not so smooth on the bench. It seemed to lock up the drive train for a second when I would blip the throttle. Looked like it was very hard on the drive train. I thought if I do the auto tune it might help correct whatever is causing the wierd stuff it was doing. I'm sure others must be using the spektrum with success.

Have you tried the auto tune?

I havent tried the auto tune, I will though.... I am running the the spektrum dx3.0 now and I will change to my new DX3R too and se if that helps...i think you can change rx end point settings with pc programming has anyone done that ?....it seems with high speed passes it doesnt do it really...

Autotune usually helps relieve some of these quirky little tings with the MGM. Definitely a good idea to try that first.

do i set auto tune with pc ? how does auto tune work exactly ?

I have a MGM and it does the same thing. I have tryed it all. No fix. Maybe they will have a software patch?

Have you tried other radios too. I'm using a spektrum and when you blip the throttle it will occasionally lock the motor for a split second. Seems very harsh on the drive train. I thought maybe it was interference so I moved my radio further away. I tried it on the bench, but it seems like it is still going to do it.

Mine too was doing this, But strangely enough mine started acting up when I stiffend the springs. It would wheelie very hard, and it seems like when I'd briefly let off the throttle to get the front end down it would momentarily lockup. I went back to softer springs and behold, it stopped doing this. Very weird indeed. I'm sure this is only a sympton of the real problem, but sure did stop. I too run a spektrum system.
