took the xt8 to the track todAy!!
so i finally got a good hour- hour anda half of fun at the track today with my bl xt8 and dang that thing is fun!!! i never thought racing is fun but its awsome!!! my 1 5s2p a123 pack lasted the whole time!!:intello:
i ran in to a couple problems on the way. easy fixes im sure but some problems none the less. after about 45 minutes of messin around my pinion and motor come loose. i figure i messed something up but when i looked at it everything was perfectly fine. just a little loose. so i tighten it back up and its good to go now. this is not the first time its happened. should i just use some blue locktight on the pinion and motor mount? my neu does not have a flat spot. i dont really want to grind one either... it works fine so id like to just keep it like that. one more thing that i rememebred right now.... when i hook up my 4s a123 pack sometimes (most of the time) when i turn it on the esc just makes a stuttering noise.. like.... bmmm bmmm bmmm bmmm it will just keep going untill i unplug it. is this the low voltage kicking in? thanks alot guys for any help!! |
I'd say use loctite on the pinion and motor mount. I use loctite on any screw that screws into metal. I also use it on the pinions. It can make getting pinions off a bit harder but nothing a heat gun won't fix.

I do the same as MTBikerTim. But I would highly suggest grinding a flat spot on the shaft. I didn't on my Feigao motor, and on the second run, the grub screw just couldn't hold tight enough after accelerating hard, and it grinded a cut all the way around the shaft. From then on, I would always make a flat spot and it hasn't caused a problem for me yet.

so how do i do this? a dremel or what?
|
Yep or a bench grinder.
|
You can use a dremel with a thin sanding disk or just use a grinder.
|
Yep!! Dremel with cutting wheel.
|
hm.
ill try locktite first and if it doesnt hold ill try it. idk if some of you saw that i bought that other truggy off ebay. the hyper 7. after taking this to the track today idk if im going to even want that ttruck! i might just part it out or something! idk. |
sell it to me for a fity?
|
for a fity? lol
does that mean a fiddy dirtbike? fifty bucks? a fity (150?) so confused!! |
A fity would be a half benjamin!
A bill fity would be $150. Keep in mind it is all about the benjamins baby! |

Well, it depends on how much force you put on the allen key when you screw in the grub screw.
|
at the track in not going WOT all the time so i was thinking maybe thats why.. but when i bash the xt8 i am WOT basically the whole time.
idk. why it held that long. doesnt bother me! o and ya i knew what a fity is i was just messin around. idk why lol. |
one thing to note if you're planning to gind a flat spot on the shaft: keep the dremel parallel with the shaft rather than perpendicular as you're grinding. it makes it easier to keep the new flat area much more flat and not 'rounded'.
i'm sure there's a better way to explain that but the coffee hasn't kicked in yet. |
