Savage spur gear question

Ok, I have the ss kit with the steel spur. I have the 52t plastic spur and see that some other parts are required. This looks to be them: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDLJ0&P=7

Now how is that assembled? The steel spur has one of the washers with the hex center, the spring and nut. The pic shows a pair of hex washers, why?

I see that the pastic spur uses a bushing, but where does the second washer go? Also could I use a 5x11x4 ball bearing instead of the bushing?

This should tell you how it goes together. And you would be able to use a bearing I think. I have had no issues with the bushing though. Mine shows no signs of wear.

Thanks Tim, clears that up!

If that bushing is in the slipper, you DO NOT want to use a bearing there.

Why, I know that traxxas uses a bearing in the revo, but the method of loading the sliper is different. I can see that the bushing provides even force to the spur from the tension spring, a bearing might not be as good at that and the race may fail under the side load. Makes sense to me. I wil leave it as is.

As an aside, is this the best option for a slipper for the savage? I usually set my slippers reasonably tight as I do not do extreme jumps. I can see that this design does make the plastic spur prone to heating up. Is there another option for a 52t or larger spur? I need to be at least 52t due to motor to battery clearance.
