Plasti dip noob here..

I bought this little can of plast dip thinking I could use it on some nimhs and A123 packs for protection.

But there's no way a decent size battery pack is going in there without displacing that nasty liquid plastic all over the place. Do you guys brush this stuff on, or is there a larger container that can be purchased??

You can brush it on, just make it thick enough to smooth out. I believe larger cans are available too.

Well, doing it before you assemble the packs would be easier. But, as bdebde said, you cna brush it on, or get the spray can version. Personally heatshrink is better because plastidip doesn't wear very well in my experience and HS is easier to replace if needed and cheaper.

Eh... maybe I'll just pass on it then. My packs have decent heat shrink and plenty of shoe goo around the seals so that might be good enough to keep em dry.

i know you're not planning to use it, but to anyone else considering it: i've used the rattle can version, and i can say 2 things: make sure you spray in a VERY well ventilated area - the fumes are horrible. seemed to be worse than regular paint. also, as brian already said, it doesn't seem to wear well at all, and can only be sprayed in light coats... PITA if you want one thick layer, and the overspray seems to be a waste.

Yeah, I keep a can of this only to dip tool handles once the stock insulation gets worn. It works good for that and you can add multiple layers. Since handles are rounded, there aren't any corners or edges, which is where this stuff wears off fast.

It's just one of those things that sounds like a good idea to use on lots of stuff, but turns out has limited uses...

Xylene in the can. very toxic. I use spray dies and liquid electrical tape with it. man it's stinky stuff and a cheap buzz too ;) also very flammable so be careful. save that plasti dip for waterproofing your rx's and servos... you can dip the servo in then trim it off after from the gear. it's also good to put under the battery contacts to avoid shorts.

Great stuff. Just dip it all at once to get a even coat. Let dry a little and do a second coat.
