Yes it had ventilation, and honestly the ESC was pretty cool. Only the motor was hot.

Yeah, I had a seperate hump pack for the steering, and that's fine. I tried reprogramming the ESC, but no beeps from the motor.

I had the 8XL motor, and 9920 controller hooked up to 14 cells, running a 14/49 gear set up. I ran her, and everything seemed fine. motor was pretty hot after 15 minutes, not like untouchable hot,...

No, they are all just loose, seperate strands. I'm just wondering if I just twist them together, if they'll be to fat to fit in the end of the connector prior to soldering. I'll try it though.
