Lipo's are just plain all around better IMO. Depending on what you ahve, yes, they would be faster, pack more of a punch, lighter weight, and last longer. I would never go back to NiMh batts unless I had to.

The 989 would be a GREAT choice IMO. I love it. It's small, comes with a power supply, and can charge almost anything.
