You can use the calculator all you want. But if you take you're typical 4600kv x 7.4volts = 34,000 rmps, now you take 1200kv x 29volts(roughly 8s lipo) = 3600kv. All looks great on paper, but soon as you actually try it you will find out the 1200kv on 8s will be so fricken much faster then the 4600 on 2s you'll think the calculator is broke. In fact, if you take a 4600 on 3s(51,000rpm), vs the 1200kv on 6s(26,600rpm), that 1200kv on 6s will be way the hell faster then then the 4600 on 3s. I know it goes against the R/C calculator but you just try it and see for yourself. It's like those higher kv motors are just lugging out everywhere they go so you cant really compare them with a calculator.
