Nothing wrong with it;
It's not cheap; the proof of the power from the magnets; it's the resonance on a dead point of the rotor in the stator. It's pure because of the magnetic force.. this is completely normal. With a fat pinion the 'frequency' will be lower, due to the added mass.
I am surprised though that the 9XL shows more power. Can you play with the gearing?
