I agree with Serum. That 1512 should have at least as much grunt as the XL, if not substantially more. And yeah, that springy feel is just the pull of the magnetic poles. You can feel that on the 9XL as well, it's just not nearly as strong and the 9XL only has two of those "detents", while the 1512 has 12 detents IIRC.
