Old thread I know...
Sower? You ran the MM 5700 in this on 3 cell lipo? Was that enough motor? I was thinking about doing one of these, only the GT10 version. Exactly the same only bigger tires and 8 shocks instead of 4. I was wondering of the mamba motor was enough. I am thinking about doing one of these and using an old Quark 80B and a Feigao 9L I have sitting here doing nothing. For batteries I was thinking 4s1p A123 cuz I have that already too. If the MM combo was enough I might just do that route though. Not sure about any of it yet. Just starting to think it through.
Was the MM system enough or did it get hot. At 4.5lbs stock RTR and then converting and adding batteries and such I'm thinking it will probably be a 5-6lb truck. Thats getting a little on the fat side for a short can motor in my mind, but I haven't had a mamba motor yet so I don't really know.
I know its been a while since you got rid of this, but anything you can remember would be great. Thanks.
UltimateHobbies.com has these things for under $200 now and free shipping. Hard to go wrong with that. I couldn't resist. I will probably goof around with it as a nitro for a while just to see if I like it before I put the effort into converting it, but I'm thinking about it already.
I think that HB just missed the mark with this little bugger. If they would have gone the extra mile and put the center dif in it and offered a few hop up parts and done some advertising they could have done what the CRT.5 is doing now. They were a year earlier but just missed a few details that would have made this a really killer little truck. When they first came out they were like $450. Now for $189 RTR its almost worth it just to get it to run nitro on those damp days you don't want to run the electrics.
Id be interested to hear any other thoughts on this truck anyone else has also.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
