A 2 pole motor has one norht pole & one south pole on the rotor magnet, whilst a 4 pole has 2 norths & 2 souths, IE: north-south-north-south. This means the esc has to work twice has hard to make the motor rotate, but I believe this equals a much smoother motor & less cogging, or something to that effect. The programming is different for a motor with more poles since the esc has to do extra work to get it to rotate, and since the MM motors are all 2 pole jobbies, the MM esc doesnt like 4 pole motors. Castle is ment to be releasing a programming fix for this issue but it is unlikely to happen until after the MMM is for sale, other wise people could run the brilliant Neu motors on the MM, so wouldnt need the MMM unless they wanted an insanely powerful/fast system.
